We are constantly striving to work safer and smarter, and to make our products stronger, lighter and more sustainable so we can meet the ever-changing needs of our customers, our communities and the wider world.DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?The Basics:* High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)* Previous working experience in related position, such as industrial warehouse, heavy machinery operation, manufacturing, or logistics, is required* At least 1 year of experience in high paced industrial position is required* Ability to accurately read a tape measure (metric/standard)* Basic knowledge in manufacturing process systems* Basic computer skills including MS Office* Ability to perform material handling or heavy equipment operation and continuous manual labor* Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques* Ability to follow diagrams and written work instructions* Ability to be a self-starter, follow directions, and work in a team environmentThe Extras:* CDL preferred* Crane certifications preferredTRAITS TO BE SUCCESSFUL* Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.* Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments.* Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.* Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING* Responsible for scanning/recording coil info for packaging type and pertinent information* Responsible for packaging coils* Responsible for transporting coils to and from packing, and re-work areas* Verification of the identification number on the coil being packaged in conjunction with the number per the TWMS display and reporting and addressing any discrepancies* Use hand hydraulic and pneumatic jacking/hoisting equipment, forklift, and pendant/remote cranes as required to enable the delivery of materials and goods to the proper areas* Performs the shift turnover with the previous and following shift* Responsible for the safety, order, and cleanliness of the coil/packaging area and equipment* Visually inspect coils for damage and/or broken banding and report and address as needed* Training of teammates* Other duties as may be assigned including training on and operation of coil transport vehicle, and coil master* Ensure the coils are packaged to customer specification and shipped without quality defects* Ensure mixed steel does not get shipped by following AM/NS procedure* Identify quality defects as the last eyes on the productYOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT* Industrial setting in Internal Logistics* Gulf coast region in Calvert, AL* Shift Work – Rotating 12 hour shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidaysBENEFITS TO MAKE YOUR WORLD BETTERAM/NS Calvert focuses on hiring the best candidates, so we strive to provide the best benefits and perks to make your world easier.Health & Wellness – You can choose between a high deductible health insurance plan with a Health Savings Account (HSA) or a traditional PPO plan with a Flex Spending Account (FSA) option.
