Job Summary:Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution (DMED) brings together the Company’s best-in-class product, technology, and commercialization teams together into one global organization. DMED is responsible for the P&L management and all distribution, network, engineering, production, and studio operations, sales, advertising, data, and certain key technology functions worldwide for the Company’s content engines. DMED also manages operations of the Company’s streaming services including Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and Disney+ Hotstar; and domestic broadcast and cable television networks. The Operations Specialist acts as a liaison between Technology/Systems Engineering and Production Operations; they represent and safeguard operational interests in capital projects and initiatives, aid in the design and implementation of new technical areas, help to develop workflow, and coordinate Production Operations’ faxing and acceptance of systems. Operations Specialists offer in-depth operational training in all disciplines of television production and offer troubleshooting skills and support to the operation. Members of the Operations Specialist group consistently concentrate on developing and revising the operational workflow to help solve complex production needs in Bristol and at remote locations. They work closely with Systems Engineering to integrate advanced systems and to ensure efficient workflow. They recommend implementation strategies for innovative technologies and support the remote and studio-based operations wherever critical operating points are necessary to sustain the integrity of network integration and production.Responsibilities:Provides expert operational support to Production Operations and partners.Assists in developing and implementing the most efficient and effective workflows using existing systems and technologies.Contributes to the planning and integration of operational hardware while shaping workflows to ensure efficient and smooth operations.Consistently monitors the educational needs of the Production Operations staff. Provides mentoring, contributes to the development of training programs and conducts one on one and group training.Participates in the installation and implementation of new equipment.Performs a variety of tasks and special projects as needed.Maintains an awareness of technical developments and trends in the industry. Keeps apprised of new technology and recommends appropriate solutions to the studio and remote based departments.Collaborates with Management in long range capital project planning providing operational and workflow expertise.Assists in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures and training strategies that ensure efficient use of all operational resources in assigned areas.Recommends and participates in training programs meant to improve the competency of the technical operations staff.Contributes to the development of systems and workflows that ensure the quality of live and recorded programming, as well as coordinated productions and special projects as defined by Senior Management.Participates in emergency activities resulting from equipment failures. Prepares technical operations reports. Follows up with support groups on persistent and serious issues within the facility. Assists in resolving complex technical issues as they arise.Problem solves and troubleshoots using effective communication to best convey issues and resolutions.Participates in training programs, (physical, classroom, virtual, etc.) for self-career development and/or regarding any relevant equipment and workflow changes within the operation.Follows the policies and procedures of the department.Basic Qualifications:10+ years of operational or related experienceBachelor’s Degree in Communications, Studio Production, or related fieldVocational School or related experienceBilingual (written and spoken) – English/SpanishPreferred knowledge of the workflows and equipment associated with broadcast studios and control rooms, including audio consoles, video switchers, cameras, routers, servers, UDCs, tie lines, etc. Demonstrable Subject Matter Expertise level knowledge of Broadcast Communications EquipmentDeep level of understanding of Remote Event Workflows and TerminologyAbility to provide exceptional customer service to our partners CompTIA A+ITIL FoundationPreferred Qualifications:Minimum of 8 years of production operations or related experience. Advanced technical and workflow knowledge in assigned areas, including, but not limited to; audio, communications, system integrations, camera and studio related equipment and infrastructure, creative services, distribution techniques, branding systems and strategies, server based systems, non-linear editing, production control rooms or automated environments. Required EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred EducationBachelor’s or Technical School degree in communications, electronics, television production or related field.
