Operations Engineer-Reports to Plant Manager

Mechanical Engineering
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years applicable experience with the production of specialty chemicals
Able to effectively troubleshoot problems utilizing appropriate company resources.
Must demonstrate ability to work independently.
Lotus Notes, QSI, word processing, spreadsheets (e.g.
MS Excel), Yokogawa DCS systems and software.
Statistical analysis capabilities preferred (e.g.
SQC/SPC, LSS).and take initiative to safely and effectively complete job tasks.
Purpose of Department/Section
To safely manufacture specialty chemicals following established operating procedures and to produce and supply a product which meets or exceeds customer requirements.
To grow and nurture Plants specialty chemicals capabilities.
Support and adhere to companies’ standards and management system for quality, environmental, health, safety, security, and Responsible Care.
Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting the Director of Operations and Plant Managers in establishing, maintaining, and ensuring that all policies and procedures of the Operations Group are satisfied to meet the policies of the Company.
To provide direct line management including provisions for technical support to the facility.
Provide leadership for pro-active corporate safety, health, environment and stewardship programs through implementation and continuous improvement of Responsible Care initiatives.
Duties and Activities Required by Job (In Order of Importance)
Support Operations Group to ensure safe and environmentally compliant plant operation—20%
Support troubleshooting of facility DCS systems—5%
Engineering support for process optimization, maintenance, and corrective actions per companies Continuous Improvement Opportunity systems (PHA action items, quality investigations, near miss action item, incident review action items, JSAs, etc.)—45%
Design through installation for capital projects including flowsheet and P&ID development, detailed equipment and instrumentation design and specification, cost estimation, and project management—5%
Special projects as assigned by supervisor—10%
Provide direct line management to Process Manager.
Communicate as needed.
Be cognizant of employee morale and make sure that good employee relations always exist.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and direction as needed.-15%
