– Work together for success.CLERICAL SUPPORTReceives, assists and directs patients, visitors and staff in accordance with policies and procedures.Receives and refers requests from patients and visitors to appropriate hospital personnel.Understands the diversity of customer needs, and demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services to the customer (i.e.
stands in front of a geriatric individual and speaks slowly and distinctly, allows individual with a disability enough time to complete tasks, etc.).Answers telephone calls and relays telephone communications to individuals in a timely municates pertinent patient and unit information to the Charge Nurse, Nursing Management, Nursing Therapy Clinic Supervisor and other unit staff as necessary.Assists in orienting new personnel to the nursing unit and to Nursing Unit Secretary duties.Receives and distributes mail and other items for patients and staff.Makes discharge phone calls.
Faxes documentation, including discharge summaries to piles and/or inputs data.
Files documents.Maintains adequate supply of forms, supplies and equipment.Maintains assignment boards, bulletin boards and other communication sources, including hospital and departmental reference materials, as directed.Keeps the nursing station clean, safe and functional.Utilizes and monitors unit equipment (i.e., lab printer, computer, video monitors).
PATIENT RECORDS Initiates and assembles medical records for all patients on unit.Maintains the medical records in appropriate and functional order as directed by hospital policies and procedures; monitors location of same.Prepares and transfers medical records to Health Information Management (HIM) Department upon patient’s pletes necessary forms, requisitions and communications necessary to implement orders.
Dates and initials orders upon completion.Records and charts clinical data such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration and similar patient information in a timely manner into the EMR.Files patient reports in the correct patient chart and the correct section of the chart in a timely manner.Prepares transfer documents for emergencies and routine patient transfers to other pletes computer entries in a timely manner (e.g., discharges, room changes, appointments).PROFESSIONALISMIncorporates professionalism and demonstrates customer service in the daily delivery of care through positive communication and positive interpersonal relationship with internal and external customers.Respects patient’s rights and preferences.Maintains confidentiality of information during and related to the course of work and performance of duties.Demonstrates commitment to quality pletes assignments within scheduled work hours.Accountable to start and end work based on designated work shift.
When appropriate, obtains approval from the supervisor for changes and/or variances.Observes and follows house rules and dress code.Attends and participates in inservices, conferences and educational programs to assure continued professional growth and maintains unit education plies with and updates yearly skills review per policy and timely completes requirements needed to maintain position and/or employment at REHAB.Demonstrates competence with technical skill review of procedures, treatments, and equipment usage.Keeps self updated on hospital and unit announcements, including updated policies and procedures.Offers recommendations to improve processes and/or operations of the department.Participate in continuous improvement projects.OTHER FUNCTIONS:Performs other duties as assigned.SCOPE OF PRACTICE: The persons served include individuals of all ages, primarily adults, some adolescents and on occasion, pediatrics.
Patients are referred primarily from Hawaii.JOB SPECIFICATIONS:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:High School graduate or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:Knowledge of medical terminology.Previous work experience in a medical/hospital setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Experience:At least one (1) year of previous work experience as a Unit Secretary.Basic computer skills.
