Nursing Care Coordinator

Providence is calling a RN Transition Mentorship Coordinator (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Office Park Portland in Portland, OR

Be accountable to build and develop the clinical preceptor’s ability to effectively teach, evaluate, and mentor nurses within the clinical academy fellowship and residency programs.

Be the “preceptor to the preceptor” and will have responsibilities in building and developing the preceptor, clinical manager, and resident/fellow relationship triad. This is done through direct interaction, intentional rounding, classroom instruction, coaching, and evaluation.

Contribute to the operations and organization of the clinical academy programs throughout the Oregon region and across the care continuum.

Be responsible to collect and evaluate data sent to the system clinical academy, participate in the creation and revision of academy curriculum, evaluate the variety of programs offered, and keep organized the cohorts of residents and fellows.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, administer, and evaluate nursing residency and fellowship programs following the Providence St. Joseph Healths Clinical Academy Curriculum
  • Oversee the learner, preceptor, and manager triad relationship during the learners transition to practice
  • Serve as a wise coach and advocate to the preceptor and learner
  • Make regular contact with the preceptor and works with them to identify and correct clinical concerns with the learner
  • Work with the preceptor to build their skills in competency evaluation of other nurses and learners
  • Assist in developing and maintaining Clinical Academy Curriculum
  • Provide scrupulous record keeping of these attending all Clinical Academy Programs.
  • Monitor the effectiveness, satisfaction, and clinical impact of the programs offered
  • Collaborate with educators, managers, and work groups at a local, regional, and system level in matters related to preceptorship, clinical academy programs, orientation, simulation, and workforce development
  • Is available to provide direct, in-person coaching, to preceptors, managers, and learners wherever they are within the Oregon region – occasional travel and availability for all shifts is required
  • Teach didactic, lab, and simulation classes for the clinical academy programs
  • Teach in the orientation and onboarding program
  • Provide direct, detailed, and actionable objective and subjective feedback on clinical practice concerns – and documents these encounters.

Qualifications:

Qualifications – External

Required qualifications for this position include:

Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an approved school of nursing

Graduate Degree in Nursing or related field (however, candidates who exhibit a commitment to obtain a graduate degree in nursing or a related field will also be considered)

Current unencumbered licensure as an Registered Nurse (RN) by the Oregon State Board of Nursing

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) – BLS Provider. American Red Cross (ARC) – BLS for Health Care Provider. Military Training Network (MTN) – Healthcare Provider; upon hire

3 years of experience in nursing education or leadership 5 years of experience in nursing

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

National Certification in area specialty

Experience as a clinical faculty member
