Job Summary ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION: s analyze the Earth’s gravity and magnetic fields, geophysical structure, material properties, and dynamics for geospatial intelligence and DoD applications.

They define and maintain the World Geodetic System (WGS), perform datum transformations between WGS 84 and local datums, and develop spatial and temporal models defining Earth systems.

They provide in-depth technical expertise on geodetic and geophysical issues to customers and represent NGA in community forums establishing doctrine and policy.

Additional Job Information ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: NGA’s s collect, analyze and manipulate Earth data used to produce the Earth Gravity Model (EGM), World Magnetic Model (WMM), and Crustal Magnetic Model (CMM) for the Department of Defense (DoD).

s maintain the World Geodetic System (WGS 84), perform datum transformations, and drive NGA doctrine and policy in DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) forums by leveraging geodesy and geophysics expertise.

The selected individual will serve as a within the Geosciences Division, Office of Geomatics in one of three primary mission areas: * Gravity and Magnetic Force Modeling o Maintain Earth’s force models to accurately position geospatial intelligence in WGS 84 o Analyze and model the Earth’s gravity field o Analyze and model the Earth’s core magnetic field o Analyze and model the Earth’s crustal magnetic field o Analyze the effects of Earth’s force fields on navigation and targeting performance * Coordinate Systems o Research complex geodetic issues o Maintain and improve current coordinate conversions and datum transformations applications o Develop innovative map projection applications for DoD requirements Band 3 s typically have advanced degrees or relevant experience.

They integrate quickly into Geosciences and work independently on routine production, but may require assistance on more complex challenges.

This position may be eligible for an INCENTIVE: selected candidates may be offered an incentive as part of the offer of employment, based on budget availability.

To receive the incentive, selected candidates must be eligible under 5 CFR Part 575 upon issuance of the Final Offer Letter.

Changes in federal employment status prior to issuance of the Final Offer Letter may affect eligibility.

Incentive recipients sign a service agreement depending on the approved amount or duration of the incentive.

If the employee leaves before the end of the service agreement, the employee may be required to repay a pro rata share amount of the incentive to the government.

Mandatory Qualifications MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required).

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geodesy, Mathematics, Physical Science, or a related discipline that includes at least 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework in any combination of Astronomy, Cartography, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Geodesy, Geology, Geomatics, Geophysics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Orbital Mechanics, Photogrammetry, Physical Science, Physics, Remote Sensing, or Surveying.

Coursework must include differential and integral calculus.

OR B.

Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience in conducting work related to Civil Engineering, Geodesy, Geophysics, Geotechnical Analysis, Geodetic Surveying, or a related field that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.

As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience.

Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT: Near visual acuity of 20/60 or better with or without corrective lenses Highly Desired Qualifications QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1.

Demonstrated experience performing scientific or statistical analysis, or data analytics.

2.

Demonstrated experience with Mathematical, Statistical, or Scientific Software: MATLAB, Mathematica, Python, etc.

3.

Advanced coursework: Machine Learning, Calculus III, Advanced Calculus, Linear Algebra, Ordinary Differential Equations, Partial Differential Equations, Signal Processing, Numerical Analysis, Complex Variables, Mathematical Modeling, Geodesy, 300+ level Statistics, Vector Analysis, Numerical Methods, Fourier Analysis, Potential Theory, Neural Networks.

4.

Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary teams to develop solutions to problems and deliver those solutions.

5.

Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technology or software.

6.

Demonstrated experience with problem identification, analysis, resolution and adaptation to changing requirements and timelines.

Additional Job Requirements You must be able to obtain and retain a Top Secret security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information.

In addition, you are subject to a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination in order to maintain access to Top Secret information.

All employees are subject to a periodic examination on a random basis in order to determine continued eligibility.

Refusal to take the examination may result in denial of access to Top Secret information, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.

Employees with SCI access and who are under NGA cognizance are required to submit a Security Financial Disclosure Report, SF-714, on an annual basis in order to determine continued eligibility.

Failure to comply may negatively impact continued access to Top Secret information, Information Systems, SAP, and/or unescorted access to SCIFs.
