Member Relations Specialist

Nuclear Energy Institute

This is a Full-time position in Meeker County, MN posted December 13, 2021.

Primary Purpose

  • Provide general support and project management to the member relations department in accordance with department’s mission to advance and enhance NEI member growth and engagement.
  • Handle routine tasks and provide coordination between membership relations and other NEI departments as needed to support enterprise-wide membership programs.
  • Manage projects and initiatives that support efficient operations of NEI’s membership function.
  • Manage all aspects of the association management system (AMS) including but not limited to integrations with other systems, data integrity, and user and member experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the integrity of the organization’s membership data in NEI’s association management system, Impexium, and other interconnected programs.

    Work proactively with staff to ensure member data is accurate and that the AMS is meeting the needs of the organization.

    Develop and provide resources that support the use of membership related business systems among staff – training for new staff, refresher videos, documentation, etc.

    Respond to inquiries and requests for data updates and ensure that changes, additions, and deletions are accurate and completed in a timely manner and in accordance with NEI policies.

    Proactively review trade press and internal communications for announced member personnel changes, maintaining a “tickler” file for known future changes.

  • Support member onboarding and welcome process.

    Maintain member files for each NEI member company containing key files such as membership applications and other key member documents.

  • Manage NEI committee information by updating committee membership, creating new committees, and sunsetting inactive committees.

    On an annual basis, prepare and lead the staff through a proactive review of all committee data.

  • Maintain database tagging and structure, including relationships, committee codes, mail codes and category codes.

    Identify the need for tag revisions or new tags as needed so that the data is structured and segmented to maximize use by NEI.

  • Serve as primary liaison with NEI business systems team and the AMS customer support team as needed.

    Work with the NEI business systems team to ensure that the functionality of the AMS is being optimized to meet the needs of the organization by regularly participating in internal AMS meetings, external AMS trainings, staying up to date on product releases and troubleshooting issues that arise.

  • Serve as first line for NEI customer service by managing NEI’s account services inbox for internal and external customers, including support with account creation, access issues and directing other inquiries to the correct staff member.

    Respond to inquiries from members and prospective members on NEI activities and programs.

  • Manage key membership documents, including committee rosters, member rosters, checklists, etc.
  • Work with the communications division and internal web content management team to update, maintain and develop membership content on NEI’s website.
  • Support the member relations department in all aspects of department activities including awards management and annual dues billing.
  • Prepare and maintain materials and slides for new member recruitment activities.
  • Perform support tasks as assigned, including but not limited to answering member calls and emails, preparing correspondence, supporting department strategic planning, scheduling meetings, preparing materials for shipment.
  • Support special projects and other departmental activities as assigned.
  • Work with and manage membership department administrative tasks utilizing the Member Relations and Operational Solutions Administrative Assistant.

Job Specifications

Minimum of five years’ work experience with association customer service and data management preferred.

Knowledge

Proficiency in an association management system, preferably Impexium, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Skills and Abilities

  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, improvements and efficiencies.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service and to balance interactions with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, at varying levels of seniority.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Flexible and collaborative with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education

Bachelor’s degree is required.

Degree with a focus in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations is preferred.
