This is a Contract position in Sandy Plains, GA posted November 23, 2021.

Overview: The Medication/ Treatment Nurse is responsible for administration of all medications and treatments ( except those specifically designated for an RN) during her tour of duty, according to the established medical and nursing care plan.

Works under the direction of the Head/ Charge Nurse to provide optimum nursing care to all residents on the unit.

Essential Functions Receives report from previous shift, making sure that he/she has received all pertinent information on each resident.

Organizes assignment for most efficient use of time.

Sets priorities in meeting the needs of residents.

Continuously evaluates behavior , symptoms, reactions and progress of residents and discusses findings with Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse.

Administers all medications according to established policies and procedures and physician’s orders.

Performs all treatments according to physicians specific order and established policies and procedures.

Discusses the need to discontinue or change a medication of treatment with the Nurse Manager/ Charge Nurse.

Supervises, performs and/ or assists with resident care as indicated: assists with feeding of residents.

Assists with orientation and instructions of other nursing personnel as required.

Takes and transcribes physician’s orders accurately and promptly Orders prescribed medications : notifies pharmacy of discontinued medications: and ensures accuracy of medications and dosages when received from pharmacy.

Assists with requisitions supplies and equipment as needed;ensures their proper utilization.

Documents all medications administered as indicated in established policy and procedures and according to the Department of Health regulations.

Helps to maintain all unit records against physician’s orders to ensure accuracy before the first of each month.

Reviews medication administration records against physician’s orders to ensure accuracy before the first of each month.

Qualifications: Education Requirements Graduate of State approved school of Practical Nursing.

Experience Requirements One or more years of experience in sub
– acute setting preferred.

License Requirements Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of New York, BLS
