What is the job?
* Generates and processes confidential and sensitive legal documents and correspondence accurately and in accordance with standard office procedures
* Transcribes dictation to include contracts, correspondence, pleadings, briefs, judgments, and other documents on administrative matters and litigation issues, including utilities issues, employment law.
* Resolutions and ordinances; transcribes meeting and interview notes and recordings; prepares and completes legal records, forms and documents; schedules depositions; files documents with the appropriate court, and delivers copies to opposing counsel and other parties as required.
* Establishes and maintains databases using personal computer with various installed software; utilizes court-ordered case management systems to track litigation files and miscellaneous projects.
* Organizes, manages and maintains case records and files; processes and logs incoming documents and directs them to the proper location; sorts, indexes and retrieves forms, correspondence and documents; schedules appointments and meetings; maintains attorney and court calendars.
* Answers and routes incoming calls; responds to inquiries; replies to emails; communicates with department heads, elected officials, State agencies, witnesses, court administrators, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and the public regarding cases responds to requests for information within scope of authority; refers matters requiring legal interpretation to supervisor for resolution.

What you bring to the job?
* Knowledge of: legal terminology, forms and research methods; state and Federal rules and regulations on civil litigation; modern office practices and procedures; methods and standards for preparing legal pleadings and legal correspondence;
* Ability to: Assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands; communicate effectively in verbal and written forms; proficiently cite cases, statutes, ordinances, etc.; establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, representatives from other agencies, elected officials, local attorneys, and judicial personnel, and the public; maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
* Skills in: accurately collecting and maintaining records; entering data and information into a computer system with speed and accuracy; making accurate arithmetic calculations; preparing and writing reports and business correspondence; meeting critical time deadlines; searching and maintaining records and computer files.
