This position provides comprehensive environmental, health or safety support to assigned geographic and/or organizational sections.
Responsible for most complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, health or safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the organization’s EHS standards and with federal, state and local regulatory requirements.Works under consultative direction toward predetermined goals and objectives.Assignments are usually self-initiated.Leads development, implementation and maintenance of programs, systems and procedures.
Uses extensive experience to anticipate and prevent EHS incidents and hazards.Leads investigation of incidents, accidents, injuries, or complaints.Recommends improvements in most complex processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment, to minimize the hazard potential.Leads development and conduct of employee training, emergency preparedness and quality assurance programs.Provides most complex regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Provides regulatory-required and internal environmental reports.Maintains expert knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies and expert knowledge on the scientific and technical aspects of regulatory requirements and how they may impact company operations.Acts as a lead person or technical expert providing functional direction and training for environmental, health or safety programs.Advancement to senior level requires specific business need toward predetermined goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
Serve as single-points-of-contact and subject matter expert to support most complex environmental, health or safety activities that require comprehensive knowledge and advanced experience in order to provide compliance solutions to EHS issues.
Provides lead direction and technical expertise for most complex work activities in order to comply with environmental, health or safety laws, regulations and corporate requirements.
Develops, implements and recommends improvements in most complex programs, systems and procedures.
Provides most complex regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
Provides regulatory-required and internal environmental reports.
Leads EHS compliance and management system audits.
Interacts with management and customers to ensure consistent and thorough implementation of EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
Anticipates and prevents EHS incidents and hazards along with leads investigation of incidents, accidents, injuries or complaints.
Leads section and department administrative and development functions including budgeting, special projects and assignments, employee training, emergency preparedness and quality assurance programs.
Basic/Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, health & safety, or other technical related bachelor’s degree and 8 plus years of work related experience OR
HS/GED and 15 plus years of work related experience in lieu of a degree.

Master’s degree in engineering, science, health & safety, or other technical related Master’s degree

Expert knowledge of most complex environmental and/or health & safety regulatory compliance requirements, scientific practices, quality assurance principles, and auditing principles.
Experience in negotiating with regulators at the state and/or federal level.
Demonstrated expert technical skills in multimedia environmental (air, water, waste) and/or health & safety areas.
Demonstrated ability to lead personnel from diverse groups working toward a complex common objective or initiative.
Very strong collaboration, communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills with a customer-oriented focus.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with top management.
Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing most complex systems and processes that comply with environmental, health or safety laws and regulations, corporate policies and goals.
Ten years experience in power generation or transmission/distribution operations.
Five 5 years direct health & safety or environmental experience
Successful track record in supporting EH&S compliance at multiple facilities/regions within multiple regulatory jurisdictions.
Experience in successfully influencing regulators.
Travel : approximately 35%
Complete and maintain a wind tower climbing and rescue training certification
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb a wind turbine
Ability to maintain the Renewables’ Safe Working Weight
Ability to safely maneuver on uneven terrain
