Laundry Aide 2pm-10pm Fulltime

Description

JOB PURPOSE:   
Tends launderingmachines to clean sheets, blankets, pillow coverings, and personal articles ofpatients. Loads articles in washer and adds specified amount of detergent orother cleaning agents. Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places themsuccessively into wringer and dryer for measured time cycles. Sorts dryarticles according to identification numbers or type. Folds and places items inappropriate storage bin.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.   Foldsand sorts laundry (blankets, sheets, towels etc.) and personal clothing items
2.   Hangsclothes on racks according to name and numbers.
3.   Deliverspatient/resident’s laundry to designated areas
4.   Ensuresthat patients/residents clothes are ready to wear, not in disrepair and put inproper place
5.   Understandsfunctions of various soaps and bleaches
6.   Followsprecautions as stated on MSDS for all chemicals used
7.   Washesand dries clothes and linens
8.   Keepsequipment clean and follows cleaning schedules
9.   Maintainsa clean and organized area; sweeps and mops laundry area
10. Reportsany needed repairs to maintenance department
11. Operateslarge filters according to established schedules
12. Ensuresproper handling of soiled laundry items
13. Cleansand disinfects linen carts as required per policy and procedure
14. Emptieswashers and dryers as requested/necessary
15. Operateswater, gas, and electric cutoff switches and valves
16. Understandsthe proper process for stain removal

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
HighSchool Degree preferred.
 
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
On-the-job trainingprovided
 
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: 
None

Previous experience inhealthcare laundering processes
