The Lab Tech Assistant II is responsible for receiving and processing, and performing limited testing of patient specimens for diagnostic testing. Nights.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and labels all specimens according to hospital and laboratory policy
• Prepares samples for testing in laboratory departments.
• Maintains equipment and stocking of supplies in central receiving/processing area.
• Prepares specimens for send out to reference laboratories.
• Assists with setups, Gram stains and rapid testing in Microbiology.
• Maintains equipment and stocking of supplies
• Collects and processes specimens
• Registers outpatients and/or specimens received from outside customers, as necessary.
• Assists with reception and front office duties as necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Biological Science required
• Phlebotomy experience preferred
• 5 years of Technical Assistant experience (or equivalent) in the absence of a degree required
