IT Planning/PMO Program Lead

Chick-fil-A Corporate

This is a Full-time position in Atlanta, GA posted November 22, 2021.

The IT Planning, PMO and Special Projects Leader will oversee planning for IT and IT initiatives across Chick-fil-A’s Distribution and Production businesses.

They will also drive IT organizational optimization as the IT organization grows and scales to support these rapidly growing businesses.

As part of the Chick-fil-A Supply/Bay Center IT leadership team, this individual will report directly to the head of IT and will be responsible for establishing and administering their sub-department budget.

In addition to the above responsibilities, this individual will have responsibility for the following functional areas:

  • IT Planning
  • Special Projects, Innovation and Program Management
  • IT Budget Coordination
  • IT Organization Design Coordination
  • Chick-fil-A Inc Liaison – Systems, Processes, and Interdependencies

Scope of responsibility

  • Engage and calibrate with senior leadership across businesses to define innovation programs and special projects and conduct regular review of IT delivery towards those initiatives
  • Overall direction and completion of a program or multiple programs, which consists of groups of projects, subprograms and/or program activities ensuring consistency with strategy, commitments, and goals
  • Coordinating IT components of planning across Chick-fil-A Supply and Bay Center
  • Coordinating planning and budgeting for the IT department
  • Makes key decisions, adjusts budgets, and adds resources and related project governance processes
  • Utilizes expertise and leadership skills to plan, monitor, manage and/or support different aspects of technology programs and projects
  • Leads the delivery of a scalable transition process to support the deployment of services into production (e.g., special projects)
  • Develops and manages long-term and strategic relationships, influencing, persuading, and negotiating with internal (e.g., supply chain) and external stakeholder groups (e.g., vendors/partners) to promote and implement the program vision across the business
  • Maintains a deep understanding of internal and external developments to recognize and address any potential impacts on IT programs and identifies, implements, and promotes sharing of best practices, new technologies and innovation
  • Develops and manages relationships back into Chick-fil-A Inc.

    functions and teams to provide transparency, visibility into interdependencies with other workstreams and product teams

  • Serves as an advisor to capture new business ideas, innovations, and concepts for the business

Responsibilities

  • Leads IT PM, Strategic Planning, and Special Projects across multiple distribution centers and production facilities that will scale to support a ~$40B business
  • Directs and manages the successful delivery of a program or multiple programs, consisting of multiple complex project plans, objectives and change initiatives, in line with organizational policies and strategies related to Chick-fil-A’s new entities
  • Reviews projects plans, technical roadmaps and risks and makes recommendations and path forwards to IT leadership, internal and external stakeholders
  • Delivers programs within time, budget and specification requirements and seeks opportunities to continuously improve IT delivery
  • Coordinates planning and budgeting for the IT department
  • Provides input into the formulation and direction of the new businesses and contributes to broader Chick-fil-A strategy outside of the program of work, ensuring programs align
  • Builds long-term, strategic relationships with internal and external IT and business leaders, and ensures business and IT alignment from a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Manages IT budget, forecast and actuals with finance stakeholders to deliver projects on time and on budget

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
  • 7+ years experience in IT Program Management or Planning
  • Strong experience with IT leadership, governance, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Excellent business communication and presentation skills

Business Requirements

  • Demonstrate functional knowledge and expertise in IT planning, strategy, operating model, financial management, governance, change management, and operations
  • Extensive experience developing integrated program plans, inclusive of using Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Trello, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Extensive experience initiating enterprise-wide technological changes to improve business processes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Strong IT operational experience in distribution, manufacturing, or related businesses
  • Working knowledge of innovations in supply chain, manufacturing, and distribution center facilities
  • Exposure to start-up or new business development environments

Customer Relations

  • Work closely with Chick-fil-A Supply’s distribution center, Chick-fil-A Inc., Operators, and business partners to ensure optimal alignment
  • Possess intimate knowledge of the business and the ability to put the business and the others above himself/herself
  • Demonstrate the ability to value both relationships and results
  • Be able to navigate through a confrontational situation, ensuring all parties are treated with honor, dignity, and respect

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in food service distribution or related area preferred.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, influencer of the business
  • Strong ability to operate in a Distribution Center or Corporate Office environment
  • Great ability to lead and develop talent
  • Self-starter with excellent project management and organization skills
  • Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills; a team player, yet able to work independently when necessary
  • Routinely shows interest/knowledge in and offers suggestions / solutions for continuous improvement
  • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills, detail oriented, creative, and has strong organizational skills
  • Able to anticipate needs, lead multiple projects, and manage shifting priorities
  • Excellent command of both written and verbal communication skills
