SSR Mining’s Marigold Mine, located near Battle Mountain, Nevada, is looking for an Industrial Hygiene Specialist to join our team! In production since 1989, Marigold is a large run-of-mine heap leach operation with several open pits, waste rock stockpiles, leach pads, a carbon absorption facility, and a carbon processing and gold refining facility. Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:
Reporting to the Safety, Health, & Security Manager, the Industrial Hygiene Specialist will typically work four consecutive ten-hour shifts during the day shift which may include occasional weekends, holidays and night shifts, including on-call responsibilities and is responsible for the following:
- Provide occupational safety and health guidance, training, testing, reporting, controls, and support to the departments and personnel at the Marigold Mine.
- Development of IH initiatives and sampling strategy for site
- Coordinate and perform IH sampling across site, and realization of other IH initiatives
- Assist with MSHA inspections and sampling as directed
- Assist in updating physical demands analyses and health risk assessments
- Sample shipment, data entry, statistical analysis, and reporting of samples
- Employee notification of sampling results
- Assist divisions with toolbox and other training sessions as directed
- Conduct new hire trainings as directed
- Maintain stock of IH sampling supplies and equipment calibration status
- Provide health sampling, noise sampling, and biological sampling as needed
- Monitor and audit effectiveness of all controls in place for health exposures
- Develop systems, standards, and programs for safety and health purposes
- Maintain records related to occupational health
- Manage gas detection on site
- Lead formal health risk assessments
- Fulfil on call responsibilities as required
- Performs additional duties as required
Required Skills
- Strong leadership skills

- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Required Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or other related field
- Exposure to conducting Industrial Hygiene sampling for dust/silica, noise, metal fumes and mercury
- Ergonomic experience, preferred
- Work experience in industry (mining industry preferred)
- Experience performing audiometric testing, preferred; CAOHC certification
- CSP, CIH, or CMSP designation, preferred
- Experience in emergency response, preferred
- Certified MSHA instructor, preferred
