Reporting to the Information Management Director, the Hospital IT Coordinator must be able to provide pertinent information regarding the daily operations occurring within the department. Working closely with other IT Specialists, the Hospital IT Coordinator must be a team player and promote a cohesive work environment. Offering their expertise to other departments, the Hospital IT Coordinator must have strong communication skills and be willing to work with others. Supported by contemporary technology, the Hospital IT Coordinator will have full-access to only the best technology that will allow this individual to efficiently supervise coding activities transpiring within the hospital. 

The Hospital IT Coordinator’s main responsibility is to safeguard and protect the original integrity of all medical records created at the facility. Responsible for overseeing all appropriate coding for all admission/discharge patient types, the Hospital IT Coordinator must be organized and continuously monitor these imperative details.The Hospital Coordinator of Coding may also help with other duties as appropriate to ensure the successful and smooth operation of the Health Information Management Department. The Hospital IT Coordinator will ensure confidentiality of all patient Protected Health Information (PHI) while following all federal, state, district, and facility HIPAA policies.
