Helpline Program Coordinator

At BHN, you can lead a team working to promote the safety of victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as the Helpline Program Coordinator at Behavioral Health Network! The Helpline Program Coordinator responds to texts, calls, and emails contacting the Helpline, working directly with people who use abusive behaviors, and by working with family, friends and professionals who what to help someone stop using abusive behaviors. The support provided by the Helpline is grounded in the beliefs, values, and behaviors of people who never use abuse, even if they have trauma in their life. The Helpline Program Coordinator provides short-term de-escalation and safety intervention strategies, education on the beliefs and values that underlie abusive behaviors, and referrals to community services needed. Services include Intimate Partner Abuse Educations (IPEAPs), housing stability, substance abuse assistance, and mental health counseling, among others. Additionally, they oversee staff and daily operation of the Helpline Program and ensure that staff is respectful and compassionate with callers while not ignoring or colluding with abuse. The Helpline Program Coordinator assists program management with designing and implementing program changes or modifications as needed. The Helpline Project is a new effort to provide help, support, and education to anyone who wants to prevent or stop their domestic violence abusive behaviors, victims of abuse, as well as family, friends, and professionals who want to support a person’ efforts to stop. The Helpline Project will provide phone, text, and email support and follow-up services available 12 hours a day, 365 days a year. Helpline staff compassionately work with callers to examine and practice the behaviors of non-abusers, help hold callers accountable for their behavior, and connect them with further resources to encourage long-term change. The Helpline Project aims to strengthen the current efforts of agencies and communities working to end domestic violence. Behavioral Health Network is a growing non-profit community behavioral health agency that has been providing services to children, adults, families and communities in Western Massachusetts since 1938. BHN provides comprehensive, outcome-driven behavioral health care. We are dedicated to offering high quality, affordable and culturally appropriate care to people of all ages and income levels in our constituent communities. RESPONSIBILITIES OF PROGRAM COORDINATOR:Cover Helpline during weekdays, respond to texts, calls and emails from individuals who use abusive behaviors, and from bystanders and service professionals.Assist with designing and implementing program changes or modifications as needed.Manage Helpline Responders, and assist with hiring as needed.Schedule helpline staff and back-up staff for 365 day coverage.Schedule and attend trainings and content supervision/practice sessions for Helpline Responders.Build and maintain Resource Guide with information and referrals for callers.Help conduct outreach.Provide limited follow-up/support to Helpline calls as appropriate.Provide temporary victim advocacy services as appropriate and connect victims with local services when possible.Document contact hours in generic case notes and prepare reports on contact hour usage.Adhere to all safety, confidentiality and anonymity guidelines.Review and approve Helpline staff timecards.Weekly individual supervision provided by the Supervisor of Domestic Violence Services.Attend and report to the Helpline Line Advisory Board, Ware River Valley Domestic Violence Task Force, and Southern Hill town Domestic Violence Helpline Program Coordinators at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:High School Diploma or GED (required); Associate’s Degree or higher (preferred).At least 3 years of experience working in the field of domestic violence (required).Demonstrated understanding of domestic violence perpetration (preferred).Strong organizational skills, supervisory experience, and willingness for continued education on victim services and perpetration (required).If you are interested in this opportunity, please visit our website at www.bhnworks.org and click on “Browse All Jobs” to apply!
