Grinder Operator/Paint Prep

Summary:

Operate hand held grinder and sanders to remove excess materials or burrs from internal and external sheet metal surfaces to prep for painting and/or powder coating.

Responsibilities:

• Position parts in holding device and remove surface defects with hand sander or grinder.
• Inspect, feel, and measure work pieces to ensure that surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
• Wipe surfaces clean.
• Place finished parts on pallets or racks; set aside defective parts.
• Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications.
• Fill out job travelers, time sheets, inspection documents and any other paperwork associated with the part.
• Repair and maintain all equipment used.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications:

• Experience in the operation of hand grinders (pads, disc, belt)
• Experience in the operation of hand sanders
• Minimum of 6-months sheet metal experience
• Ability to work well in a fast-pace metal/fabrication shop environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour
