GEICO seeks an experienced insurance defense Attorney for its Orlando, FL Staff Counsel Office.
As a GEICO Attorney, you will defend BI/UM cases.
Job duties include the following:Research laws and Prepare legal briefs, opinions and memoranda.Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, to include depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath.Defend by trial, arbitration, or mediation all matters assigned, as applicable.Adheres to the GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies and operating principles.Meets attendance standard of the business location, to perform necessary job functions and to facilitate interaction with subordinates and management.Job Requirements:License in good standing to practice law in Florida.Member in good standing of the Florida Bar.Position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in personal injury litigation, and demonstrated trial ability in cases of moderate severity and complexity (such as control files) or 7 years litigation experience and demonstrated trial ability in cases of moderate complexity.Travel as required, including but not limited to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferences.Must be able to perform the essential functions which include, but are not limited to seeing, hearing, typing, speaking, bending, reaching, lifting and standing.Must be able to use a keyboard and a mouse.Must be able to multi-task.Must be able to access and utilize multiple pieces of office equipment that may require simultaneous use.Must be able to communicate in a professional manner in person, via telephone and/or email.Florida litigation experience preferred.At GEICO, we make sure you have the support and resources to leverage and develop your skills, secure your financial future, and take care of your health and well-being.
