We are currently accepting applications for temporary marine steward positions.TheCook Bakeris responsible for the timely preparation and production of high-quality, nutritious meals and all bakery related items, for crew and embarked personnel; cleanliness and maintenance of the galley and associated assigned steward areas, and in the efficient and sanitary operation of the galley.TheMess Attendantis under the direct supervision of the Steward with work responsibilities within well-defined guidelines.
Responsible for washing and sanitizing all cooking equipment; cleanliness, maintenance, and organization of the galley, mess deck, storerooms, and associated assigned steward areas.
Assist Chief Steward and Cook Baker, as directed, will maintain inventory of food, consumables, tools, linens, supplies, and equipment as instructed.Qualified applicants must possess a valid USCG MMC/MMD with Steward Department (FH) endorsement, applicable IMO Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) for Seafarers (have completed Basic Safety Training), TWIC card, US Passport, valid driver’s license, Food Handling certification.Each applicant must submit legible copies of the following documents to be considered for the position:+ Resume+ All pages of USCG MMC+ TWIC card+ STCW Medical certificate with current STCW date+ Valid state driver’s license+ Valid US passport+ BST certificate* In addition, the Mess Attendant and Cook-Baker must submit a valid food worker card.
The Chief Steward must submit and ServSafe Certified food Protection Manager Card.Applicants will be required to provide documentation of participation in random drug testing program for at least 60 of the preceding 185 days, did not have any positive test results, and did not refuse to take a required test.
If not under employment, where a random drug testing program exists, the applicant shall provide a completed test indicating they are free of illegal substance abuse, when requested by Seward Marine Center, prior to employment.
Testing will be for the presence of cocaine, opiates, marijuana (THC), amphetamines and PCP (phencyclidine).
Testing will be in accordance with the Department of Transportation Program and testing shall be in accordance with United States Coast Guard Drug and Alcohol Testing guidelines outlined in the Federal Register 46 C.F.R.
