Job Summary: The Fixed Equipment SME is responsible for defining, leading and / or supporting the Design, Inspection and Repair of Fixed Equipment including Tanks, Piping, Pressure Vessels, and Heat Exchangers This person will advance existing MI activities as well as define new strategies and requirements for the inspection and repair of Fixed Equipment.
The position is part of the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Center of Excellence (CoE) and will work closely with the EHS CoE as well as RCM regional managers.
Essential Job Functions: Application and definition of the Mechanical Integrity Program as it relates to Fixed Equipment Contribute to Design Specification, and Construction activities as it relates to the Quality Assurance of Fixed Equipment.
Ensure, API, ASME, NFPA, NBIC, and other applicable Standards and RAGAGEPs are Incorporated into the MI program, particularly as it relates to Inspection and Repair Provide code and non-code Repair Plans Support / Create Inspection Planning for Fixed Equipment.
Provide technical guidance on anticipated / known damage mechanisms and the necessary NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) methods to detect Interpret Inspection Reports and ensure mandatory integrity items are planned and corrected Support / Define remaining life calculations and next Inspection dates based on condition Understand and support Risk Based Inspection methodology Assist in defining and implementing best practice for Inspection and Repair document / records storage and tracking Champion Fixed Equipment improvement initiatives Provide Fixed Equipment technical support to Maintenance, Operation, RCM COE, and Project Teams Provide technical support to failure analysis (RCA) regarding Fixed Equipment Provides technical support, guidance, direction, and leadership for reliability issues involving Fixed Equipment (piping, pressure vessels, exchangers, heaters, tanks, etc.).
Performs / Leads API fitness for service evaluations and needs Establish required thickness (Tmins) for Fixed Equipment.
Serve as SME for MI strategy on CAPEX projects.
Develop procedures and certifications required for Fixed Equipment inspections Partner with plant maintenance teams and RCM regional managers to develop action plan to correct known deficiencies in Fixed Equipment Minimum Job Requirements: Thorough working knowledge of applicable codes, standards and RAGAGEPs (ASME Section VIII, API 510, 570, 653) Good decision-making ability and problem solving skills Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks Excellent communication skills both oral and written Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Products and Computerized Maintenance Management Software Demonstrated supervisory, leadership experience and ability to work in a team environment Must be customer focused and be proactive in dealing with conflict, influencing others, listening, management of priorities, organization & planning, partnering, and utilizing a proactive approach to reliability Education/Training: B.S.
Mechanical Engineering from accredited university or institution preferred with 7 years relevant experience Training in API, ASME, and other industry standards and RAGAGEPs Certified as an API inspector a plus Experience: Minimum of 7 years experience in MI, Reliability, and PSM.
7 years of experience in Fixed Equipment (piping, pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers) Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, and executing a Mechanical Integrity Experience with material science, corrosion, and fitness for service Extensive knowledge of PSM requirements Relocation assistance is available with this position.
