Fire Chief

The Town of Florence is seeking the right person to lead our Fire Department into it’s next chapter of growth and prosperity.

The Town of Florence is expecting to see major growth in our community over the next 5 to 10 years.

The next Fire Chief should be experienced in managing rapid growth in the community, and within the Fire Department while maintaining direct service delivery levels.

The Town geography and development patterns bring interesting challenges to our operation and the provision of municipal services to our residents.

The new Fire Chief will seek to maintain and improve solid rapport and trust in all areas of the community and within the Fire Department through strong written and oral communication skills.

The ideal candidate will be able to mentor and inspire firefighters to achieve their maximum potential.

The incoming Fire Chief should have training and experience in public relations sufficient to handle all aspects of crisis management and media relations.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, fire science, or closely related field, plus six (6) years of increasingly responsible command and supervisory experience in an organized fire department, including experience in managerial and administrative work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Three years as a Fire Chief is preferred.
