The Buyer is responsible for the effective communication and translation of material requirements as well as the expenditure of corporate funds for the acquisition of goods and services to meet the needs of the company.RESPONSIBILITIES:Obtain and evaluate the requirements for goods and services for the Corporation, as determined by using locations.Receive, consolidate and evaluate quotations from suppliers.Determine best course of action regarding purchase of goods and services and present to Purchasing Management for review and comment.Negotiate price, delivery, payment terms, quantities and discounts with suppliers.Provide source and price information, as required.Initiate purchase orders based upon requisitions received from MRP, Logistics Planners or end users (RTP’s).Work with requisitioners to best utilize existing ‘Preferred’ suppliers of goods and services as required.

Maintain or reduce manufacturing supplier’s base through consolidation.Handles adjustments with suppliers, involving replacement of materials not conforming to purchase specifications, discrepant receipts, past due deliveries and accounts payable inquiries.

Keeps the aforementioned items at a minimum and handles those problems expeditiously.Issue tooling orders based upon engineering requirements as per current tooling order procedures.Coordinate placement of tooling and orders with engineering and quality groups.Establish and maintain effective records and files pertaining to the acquisition of goods and services, as required by the Corporation or Federal, State or local laws.Operate under the guidelines of the Corporation and under the laws and regulations applicable to our business.SKILLS:To efficiently provide the supply of the proper goods and services required by the Corporation, in a cost effective, legal, and ethical mannerProficient with Microsoft ExcelGood written and verbal communication skills EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:A four year college degree in business or engineering is required, or the equivalent work experience.

A C.P.M certification is a plus.Experience in purchasing and negotiations is necessary, five years or more preferred.

The ability to work with figures, details and to meet deadlines while under pressure is mandatory.

Flexibility and innovative thinking are assets.

The ability to work with computers and to develop programs using available software is desirable.Two years of experience using the SAP 6.0 purchasing module is preferred
