JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an Estimator for our Commercial and Residential Projects to represent our company.
The Estimator’s main goal is to achieve and maintain accurate budgets, create processes, and promote a team atmosphere between trades and our management team on all construction projects.
This highly motivated person will contribute to our growing company by developing and implementing a pre-construction process.
This successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and with a team of dedicated professionals in a fast-paced environment.
This position is accountable for preparing detailed estimates and proposals for invites to bid, budgets, and negotiating multimillion-dollar projects across multiple markets. This could also include conceptual, schematic, and design development as well as construction document estimates.
To ensure success, this person will work with full support of the Construction Staff to complete projects on time, within budget, and never compromising on quality.
A team environment is essential part of CCC as this position requires working with the Owner, VP of Construction, Project Coordinators, and Administrative Office staff.
This person must be able to lead, inspire, organize, multitask, and have experience performing well under pressure.
This position has growth potential to become a Lead Estimator roll.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Excellent communication, writing, organizational, and computer skills.
(MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Power Point, Google, etc.) Required.
Read, fully understand, and interpret drawings, scopes of work, specifications construction documents
Comprehensive understanding of the CSI Division Cost Codes
Digital quantity take-offs using on-screen software.
Insert and price construction projects using estimating software.
Maintain Procore/ Builder Trend software for subcontractor solicitation, vendor contact information, and meeting minutes.
Seek Subcontractors, Suppliers, and Vendors to perform work in multiple markets
Vendor solicitation for up-to-date material pricing.
Vendor bid invitations through Procore/ Builder Trend software.
Confirm bid day coverage with subcontractors and vendors via phone calls and emails.
Attend pre-bid meetings as required.
Visit jobsites to become more familiar with the construction process as needed.
Consult and build relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors.
Detailed scopes of work for negotiated & design build projects.
Create project timelines using Microsoft Project/Procore/ Builder Trend for preconstruction, procurement, and construction schedules.
Develop and maintain a program strategy for the preconstruction course of action to ensure the preconstruction process remains on schedule, within budget and suggests cost-saving alternatives for design concepts.
Strategic planner and problem solver able to successfully integrate multiple project components to minimize conflicts and discrepancies, ensuring exceptional results, procurement strategy and to resolve construction issues in early stages
Review completed projects to identify real time production rates and adjust company cost data.
ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS
Attend weekly estimating department meetings.
Visit job sites when time permits (monthly as needed) with intent to collect specific self-perform productivity data information.
Assist with cost history data collection from jobs you estimated by discussing with the operations team and accounting which tasks are best suited for analyzing.
Attend design meetings on design build projects.
Upload PDF drawings to On Screen file and rename sheets.
Prepare estimating, project turnover books.
Includes organizing bids, quotes, and all pertinent information for the project.
Assist in maintaining/updating estimating procedures to continually improve our department and help differentiate us from the competition.
Make a concerted effort to build good working relationships with vendors in such a way that helps CCC more competitive on invite to bid projects.
Internally this position interacts with all departments including owners, construction staff, and administrative staff.
Externally this position interacts with architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and owner representatives.
Prepare agenda and conduct estimating to project manager transition meeting with operations personnel in a manner that ensures transfer of critical estimate/bid information in a timely fashion.
Calculate carpenter and laborer hours prior to pricing the project to request market recovery funds when bidding against non-union firms.
Identify early in the process our competition and any special requirements regarding insurance or MBE, WBE, EBE requirement

QUAILIFICATIONS
5+ years of Commercial /Residential Construction experience
Strong project management and communications skills
Know local building codes and procedures
Ability to read and understand construction documents
Familiarity with regulatory construction standards
OSHA certified (Preferred / Not required)
Valid driver’s license
Background check and drug test compliant
