JOB TITLE: Equipment Operator

Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Job Description:
This position involves the safe operation of excavators of all sizes, skid steers, dozers, and other misc.

equipment.

Coast will train the right candidate.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Equipment Operator include, but are not limited to:

 Must have strong work ethic and be able to work independently, under a supervisor’s instruction.
 Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
 Safely and productively operate machinery assigned.

Adapt to changing environment including traffic, soil conditions and weather.
 Daily check fluids, wear parts, tires, glass and general condition of the machinery assigned to use.

Report issues and maintenance required immediately.

Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times

 Utilize GPS systems, read and understand grade stakes and hubs for grade control and finishing.
 Operate equipment in accordance with Coast Pavement Services safety guidelines, Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as local, municipal, state and federal laws.

 Foster a culture of safety and be individually accountable for safety by working in a safe responsible manner to prevent injury to oneself or others.

 Must have a good attitude, be a team player and willing to collaborate with and assist other Coast teams when needed.

 Have and maintain a clean driving record.

Qualifications
 Experience in equipment operation.
 Valid driver’s License required.
 Must have integrity and a strong work ethic.
 Must be physically able to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 LBS.
 Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
 Experience with underground utilities and UST’s preferred.

Working Conditions
 Must be flexible in work schedule.
 Must be on time and able to work overtime, nights and weekends when necessary.
 Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, extreme heat and humidity, noise and exposure to fuel, dust and asphalt.
 Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
