Engineer III, Wireless Switch will perform a variety of engineering studies and analysis; recommend hardware and software improvements to overall network design.
Lead in the deployment of all wireless technologies, including GSM, UMTS, LTE, CDMA, EVDO, IMS, VoWiFi, VoLTE, SMS, future 5G and all other wireless core services.
Responsible for hardware commissioning, expansion and augmentation of the wireless core network elements.
Support other system integration activities to ensure that the network is deployed and operates effectively.
Perform software and licensing verification, feature testing and implementation of hardware and software upgrades.
Works to design and implement all of the core node database entries including SS7, Diameter and other signaling design as well as call and messaging routing and translations within the core.
Also responsible for management of network performance of all wireless core nodes.
Prepares integration and test plans, assists in implementation and acceptance testing for integration of nodes, upgrades of existing equipment and coordinates implementation of new nodes into the existing network.Position’s Customer(s): GCI management, engineers, cell-desk, TAC, wireless technicians, and network users.Essential Duties of All Levels in the Position:Works to design and implement all of the core node database entries including SS7, Diameter and other signaling design as well as call and messaging routing and translations within the core.Provides second tier troubleshooting and fault resolution of switch and supporting equipment.Study traffic to determine optimal system configurations and apply full basic principles, theories, and concepts to job assignments.Exhibit technical and operational proficiency with solving problems of moderate complexity and contribute to completion of projects and programs in the area of expertise.Interface with internal and external customers and provide guidance to non-exempts and technical leadership and engineering expertise to assist clients with the deployment of core wireless services.Design and architect the network to meet user and mission critical requirements.Lead in the deployment of all wireless technologies, including GSM, UMTS, LTE, CDMA, EVDO, IMS, VoWiFi, VoLTE, SMS, future 5G and all other wireless core services.Support other system integration activities to ensure that the network is deployed and operates effectively.Mentor junior engineers and stay current with developing technologyAdditional Job Requirements: This is a senior level engineering position.

This position would be responsible for planning, design, implementation, and maintaining wireless/cellular telecommunications systems and services.?
Planning, engineering, designing and implementation of platform expansions, creating network documentation, diameter, SS7 and call routing and data translations / data transcript changes.?
Perform hardware and software upgrades of all core network elements (MSC, BSC, RNC, MME, HSS/HLR-FE & CUDB, EPG, vEPC’s, SGSN, IMS-CSCF/MTAS/MGCF and other core network elements) designing the network to meet established Service Level Agreement (SLA) commitments.?
Provide support for SIM card profiles, authentication parameters and OTA platform services.?
Subject Matter Expert on fault management and restoral events and interface with the infrastructure equipment vendor on operational issues and outage events.
Act as ?Situation Manager?
during network outages, leading recovery efforts.?
Monitor network performance statistics / KPIs, and take action to correct and improve network performance.
Develop and establish processes & procedures; mentor and train Wireless Engineers, Wireless Technicians and other coworkers.?
Minimum of six years’ experience in the following areas required.o 5+ years of experience as an architect constructing and designing cellular core, IMS, telephony or IP data networkso 3+ years of experience with working in a network design, development, or operational environment.
GSM/CDMA/UMTS/LTE/IMS wireless technologies preferred.o 2+ years of experience with switch routing and translations, SS7 and IP signaling protocols.o Years of experience can be coinciding or concurrent and does not have to be consecutive.?
High School diploma or equivalent required.?
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Telecommunications or related field is required.?
In addition to minimum experience required, a combination of relevant education and work experience sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.?
Qualification is also based upon individual job performance.?

UT Starcom Gateway MSC and Remote MSC (RMSC) experience preferred.?
Experience with IMG (Intelligent Media Gateway) 5000 preferred.?
Solid understanding of IP technologies, IMS and SS7 & Diameter signaling.
Advanced knowledge of Cellular SS7 signaling protocols such as MAP, IS-41 and CAMEL preferred.?
Knowledge of 2.5/3/4G/5G wireless data (GPRS/EDGE, 1xRTT, HSPA, LTE) and SMS text messaging preferred.?
Advanced knowledge of IP/IMS/VoIP protocols (SIP, MGCP, RTP and MPLS) preferred.?
A proven understanding of routing and translations, signaling and call processing in the Public Switched Telephone Network.?
Ability to act as ?Situation Manager?
during network outages, leading recovery efforts.?
