Design Engineer

If so, Emerson has an excellent opportunity for you based in our business unit’s global headquarters in Rosemont, Illinois, with the flexibility to work remotely up to three days a week Under our Director of Engineering’s guidance, you will design and develop Appleton Group’s products that distribute, control, and monitor electrical power in hazardous and heavy industrial applications for global markets.

Projects cover a mix of new product development and product improvement programs.

AS THE DESIGN ENGINEER FOR ELECTRICAL CONTROLS & ENCLOSURES, YOU WILL: Design and develop electrical controls and enclosures such as motor starters, panel boards, and contactors for industrial and hazardous locations; optimizing our designs to build better solutions for our customers Participate in all aspects of the full product development process including concept, product specifications, design, supplier specifications, product validation, and production launch Streamline projects from inception to launch, while working concurrently with our multi-disciplined global Engineering team Collaborate with product management in translating voice of customer research into impactful features for product designs Identify and creatively apply innovative technology focused on improving our product capabilities and review and implement opportunities for continuous improvement Utilize our global lab facilities and test capabilities to validate our cutting-edge product designs against vital requirements.

Connect with our external partners to define and produce new components and materials; delivering world-class solutions.

Travel globally, 25% annually, to visit our vendors, manufacturing locations, and installations sites to review product production and operation and gain new insights from customer feedback WHO YOU ARE: You move beyond traditional ways of doing things; pushing past the status quo to come up with useful ideas and capitalize on technology trends to craft future opportunities.
