Cut off/Bundler Operator

This position reports to the production supervisor and plant manager.

The Cut off/Bundler Operator is responsible for operating the cut off and bundler to ensure a quality product is produced to the required specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Follow workplace safety practices set forth by Atlas Tube Inc.

Policy Follow verbal and written instructions Work from rolling schedules to ensure that proper size, gauge, length and material bundle configuration is being processedAdjust turkshead rolls as required to ensure that straightness tolerances are maintainedAssist in the performance of mill changeovers; Set up cutoff press for each sizeChange shear blade, crosscut blade and dies; adjust guide rolls as requiredSet up and operate Willet stencil equipmentAdjust cart rollers and bundling arms for bundle configuration changesCut quality samples on heat number changesUse computer to process tags for each bundle producedNon-conform any bundles that are, or appear to be, out of specificationFill out all operating reports and quality reports as requiredClean slugs from pressProgram bundling station to bundle proper size, configuration and strapping positionsTrain others on the Cutoff/Bundler Operator job responsibilitiesFollow LOTO proceduresAssist in mill changeovers Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers and/or maintenance Assist maintenance in making repairsAssist other operators when required during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtimeMaintain a clean and safe work areaOther duties as assignedPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSHigh School Diploma/GEDBasic Computer KnowledgeStrong multi-tasking skills Use of micrometersUse of cutting torchesHi-Lo License/Crane License PreferredKnowledge of all mill workstation practices Knowledge of the causes of mill production equipment malfunction and less than satisfactory performanceRegular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this roleLead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policyZekelman Industries offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits, including low cost, high quality medical and dental benefits.
