The primary responsibility of the Custodian will be custodial and maintenance in and around the campus facilities. Custodians will promote a safe and healthy environment for our community, students, visitors and employees. It is the role of the custodian to follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
This position reports to the Manager of Facilities.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.
FLSA DESIGNATION: Non-Exempt
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Employment is contingent upon an acceptable background/reference check.
- Employment eligibility for the United States.
- Must have reliable transportation to travel within the district.
- Valid driver’s license.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, the ability to lift heavy items and move equipment weighting up to 50 lbs across campus for various classrooms and events needs, bending, standing climbing or walking.
- Must be able to work safely in an environment containing caustic chemicals requiring specific precautions and measurement, cleaning materials, dust and noise.
- Operate mechanical cleaning equipment such as carpet extractors, high-speed buffers and scrubbers
- Remain in a stationary position most of the time; may include traversing the campus and building and, occasionally ascends/descends a ladder.
- May operate forklift, floor jack, snow removal equipment and District-owned vehicle
- Routinely required to work under inclement weather conditions
