Description

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.

Quality Imaging
Ensures correct patient, diagnosis and exam.
Performs diagnostic scans as directed by Radiologists.
Uses correct scan protocols in an effort to decrease radiation exposure to patients.
Demonstrates proper positioning of patients and scan equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to all radiation safety recommendations, including patient shielding.
Performs quality assurance tests according to manufacturer, reporting any malfunctioning equipment.
Moves exams on-line in PACS correctly and in a timely manner.
Retrieves old exams including putting them on-line in PACS.

Quality Patient Care
Responds to emergency call backs within recommended time limit.
Properly screens patients with attention to pregnancy and oral and IV contrast contraindications.
Properly administers IV and oral contrast
Explains exams/procedures to patients and families.
Encourages at least one family member to be present during exams when appropriate.
Demonstrates knowledge of all emergency equipment/supplies.
Demonstrates a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients, families and visitors
3.

Area Management
Ensures that work area is properly maintained, including compliance with all hospital, department of health and Joint Commission rules and regulations.
Submits supply requests to management as needed.
Prepares scan room (stocks linens, retrieves and prepares IV materials and contrast) prior to exams and cleans up afterwards.
Communicates well with staff members in the department, hospital and referring clinics.
Provides support to nursing personnel in preparation for and during patient sedation/monitoring.
Works as a team player by demonstrating team support in interactions with co-workers.
Completes correct process for patient add-on exams.

Continuing Education and professional development
Attends 80% of departmental meetings.
Attends professional development meetings as needed
Keeps current of new and evolving technologies in CT.
5.

Hospital Policy and Procedures
Adheres to all ACH Service Standards.
Complies with Arkansas State Department of Health regulations; Joint Commission regulations; and practices universal precautions as directed by OSHA.
Adheres to ACH Mission statement and complies with all ACH and departmental policy and procedures.
Responds accordingly to all ACH emergency procedures.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Required
– Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college program or technical school or nursing diploma
– Field of Study: Radiology Technology or Nuclear Medicine
Preferred
– Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
– Field of Study: Radiology Technology or Nuclear Medicine (Prefer additional year in CT Technology)
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Preferred
– 1 years CT Technologist experience preferred
CERTIFICATION / LICENSE / REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
Required
– American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT R)or Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMTCB)or Nuclear Medicine Technology (ARRT-N) (Certification) (Candidate must possesss at time of hire)
Required
– Computed Tomography (ARRT-CT) Certification (needed within 2 years of hire date)

– Radiologic Technology Licensure Program (AR) (Candidate must possesss at time of hire)
