Credit Quality Assurance Analyst II

M&T Bank

This is a Full-time position in Buffalo, NY posted February 26, 2022.

Overview:

Analyze and monitor the credit quality and loan exposure for assigned commercial problem loan portfolio.

Make appropriate recommendations for risk rating changes including non-accrual and charge-off through the department hierarchy.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independently review and evaluate accuracy of individual risk ratings on problem loans.
  • Communicate regularly with relationship managers regarding problem loans in their portfolio with emphasis on delinquencies, overdrafts, identification of criticized loans, potential non-accruals, loss exposure and/or charge-offs.
  • Actively participate in the quarterly problem loan meetings and perform all necessary pre and post reporting requirements.
  • Complete analysis for impairment reserves for both legacy and acquired portfolios.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned and perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

Provides appropriate documentation and support when assessing the commercial problem loan portfolio.

Alerts management of credit problems so that action can be taken to ensure timely recognition of the appropriate risk ratings with proper accrual designation, reserve and/or charge-off as warranted.

Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities:

None

Education and Experience Required:

Minimum of three (3) years previous experience in commercial credit, lending, finance, accounting and/or audit.

Bachelor degree in a business related curriculum, or in lieu of degree, seven years’ experience required.

Education and Experience Preferred:

Microsoft software including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.

Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize to complete work within established timeframes. 

Good understanding of credit policies and guidelines.

Ability to analyze and understand financial data, collateral documentation and other credit issues.
