Position Summary

The Counsel, Marketing & Innovation role will be responsible for:
Providing legal advice to ensure compliance with internal and external self-regulatory guidelines and laws applicable to marketing of beverage alcohol products in the United States and alcohol trade practice rules (collectively “Beverage Alcohol Laws”), general advertising and privacy laws.

Provides transactional support to multiple business units within the Company on an as needed basis.

Collaborates with a multidisciplinary group of stakeholders across North America and the globe to advance brand innovations.

Liaise and influence U.S.

state and federal regulators to promote business objectives.

Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Drive innovation and marketing strategy by: Collaborating with cross-functional local and global teams to provide strategic legal advice for new innovation products, brand marketing programs (e.g.

television and print campaigns, media and digital initiatives (e.g.

social media, advertisements, websites, consumer database development), on-premise and off-premise programming, sponsorships/events, product placements, talent/spokesperson arrangements, sweepstakes, contests, ecommerce and market research (collectively, “Marketing Programs”).

Strategically partnering with the business to help them achieve their goals.

Liaise and influence U.S.

state and federal regulators and serve on DISCUS regulatory board as advocate to promote business objectives.

Draft and negotiate complex contracts to support Marketing Programs including agency, talent, sponsorships, software and data licensing, media.

Provide regulatory advice, assessments and mitigation strategies relating to product quality issues, including product withdrawals or recalls.

Handle special projects as assigned by Senior Counsel, Associate General Counsel, or General Counsel on an as-needed basis.

Working Conditions:

General Office: Work is performed in a typical office environment.

Limited demands for movement and lifting.

Normal visual, hearing and language acuity required for correspondence and computer usage.

Travel: 10% of time

Education: Juris Doctorate degree required.

Admission to the New York Bar or a state that offers reciprocity required.

Experience / Background: 3-5 years as a practicing attorney required.

Experience with alcohol beverage or other consumer products law is preferred.

Strong candidates with previous in-house or top law firm experience are encouraged to apply.

considers the bigger picture (including business needs and opportunities) when assessing specifics of an issue.
