Currently, the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution is seeking a self-motivated, well organized candidate in the position of Corrections Captain.
The Corrections Captain incumbent will model the NDCS Values of integrity, respect, compassion, growth, and is ready to lead by example.

Examples of Work
Develop and implement policies and procedures which ensure security and control within and around the institution.
Oversee security and safety of assigned areas.
Ensure compliance with Departmental regulations, ACA, and the Nebraska Security Manual.
Assist in supervising administration, investigations, operations, control and security.
Inspect on a regular basis all areas within the institution and its extended limit to ensure proper security and sanitation is maintained.
Conduct investigations and security audits.
Supervise staff in custody and non-custody ranks.
Assign and evaluate security staff work.
Develop and revise security post orders.
Handle incidents involving high security or problem inmates.
Serve as Officer of the Day.
Prepare, update and maintain ACA files.
Conduct and evaluate OJT training of subordinates as well as ensuring annual training of Security Staff is completed.
Operate security and communication devices such as locks, hand radios, and intercoms.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related Behavioral Science plus four years correctional related experience or an Associate degree plus six years correctional related experience or High School education or equivalent plus eight years correctional related experience.
One year of the experience must have been in a responsible supervisory capacity.
No felony or domestic abuse related convictions.
PREFERRED: Experience working for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.
Experience developing operational procedures, and complying with ACA standards.
Previous Investigator training.
OTHER: Must have a valid driver’s license.
Transcripts required prior to appointment.
Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test.
Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
