The Corporate Counsel will serve as the primary point of contact for advice and legal support in the areas of human resources and employment matters.

The attorney will also provide guidance concerning certain litigation claims and oversee the resolution of those matters.
Essential Duties:
Manage and assist with all aspects of the litigation process, including assessing risk, developing strategy, partnering with outside counsel, reviewing pleadings, discovery, etc.

with a particular focus on consumer claims.
Analyze the merits of consumer-oriented litigation threatened or filed against the company, work with the Assistant General Counsel and appropriate business partners to develop a litigation strategy and approach for the resolution of assigned disputes;
Manage outside counsel in their representation of Generac on litigation and other legal matters; and
Conceive and recommend and, with appropriate approvals, implement enhancements and improvements to established processes and workflows.
Provide advice and guidance Company-wide on a broad range of employment law issues.
Provide day to day advice and counsel on a range of employment issues, including recruiting, hiring, compensation, wage and hour laws, performance management and discipline, litigation, accommodations and leaves of absence, and terminations;
Draft responses to EEOC, DOL, and other government agencies regarding employment claims or investigations;
Monitor and keep up to date on federal and state employment laws, regulations, and policies in the jurisdictions in which the company operates;
Provides training to Human Resources and other business partners on a variety of legal and compliance topics;
Minimal Qualifications:

· Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school;

· Minimum of 3 years of experience with major law firm and/or corporate legal department;

· Current Wisconsin Bar Association membership and in good standing;
Preferred Qualifications:

· Minimum of 3 years of experience with major law firm and/or corporate legal department;

· Current Wisconsin Bar Association membership and in good standing;
Knowledge:

· Effective negotiation, communication, and drafting skills;

· High work capacity and passion for the job, in addition to high ethical and moral standards;

· Experience advising on matters related to Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, NLRA, and equivalent state laws and proficient in handling and managing through issues related to restrictive covenants

· Excellent written, verbal and listening skills

· Demonstrated ability to identify risk, problem solve, and offer creative solutions to mitigate risk

· Must be able to prioritize and re-prioritize various duties and multi-task as required, while keeping stakeholders apprised of developments
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.

On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.

The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Occasional travel.
