Job Description
We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team based out of our Farmington Hills, MI office.

Controls Engineers with GM experience and GCCS/H certifications. We have a backlog of GM work. Most of this will be local to the Detroit area.

About my client:
They are an integrator with over 20 years of experience providing turnkey system solutions for industrial automation customer. They specialized in error proofing, traceability, image capture management systems along with custom solutions to address customers unique needs.
Highly trained, experienced and dedicated teams in:

  • Controls: PLC and HMI Programming and Full Plant Support
  • Software: Siemens Step 7 PLC (TIA Portal, WinCC) and/or Allen Bradley (Controllogix 5000) required
    • GM experience required. GCCH and/or GCCS certification a plus.

My clients engineers work in a variety of environments and locations. The role requires strong technical knowledge, sound experience and people-skills, to effectively solve issues as they arise.

What you will be doing:

  • Creating and commissioning industrial controls systems, PLC software design, and HMI screens, for different industries and environments.
  • Responsible for PLC/HMI code development, code installation, debug on job site, and commissioning of the complete system.
  • Conducting the peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with build and electrical teams.
  • Ensure that systems are designed and programmed to customer build specifications using standard techniques and approaches.
  • Travel to customer sites for installation and startup of systems.

Job Requirements:

Skills/Experience Required:

  • 5+ years of Controls Engineering/PLC programming experience
  • 5+ years of Siemens PLC and HMI programming experience
  • The ability to program/write code/ladder logic from scratch
  • Prior experience with automotive manufacturing integration
  • Prior experience programming within customer-defined standards and templates
  • Proficient with a variety of field bus networks including but not limited to DeviceNet, Ethernet I/P, Profibus, ProfiNet, etc.
