The role

This role will represent the First Line of Defense with responsibility for supporting the Home Loans Business to ensure adherence to the established risk framework. The role supports the creation, identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting of risk exposure and control performance both internally and with SoFi Suppliers. This position requires an independent worker who can provide support to maintain a strong and consistent control environment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

  • Develop and manage Mortgage operational Risk Management program inclusive of process flow, risk identification and library of controls
  • Design, document and conduct control tests to ensure proper processing according to established policies, procedures and regulations
  • Ensure Home Loans Operations has a sustainable and effective end-to-end control environment by identifying gaps and weaknesses during testing
  • Compile Data and Dashboards to present metrics and findings
  • Interpret how changes in regulations affect control environment and suggest methods of updating processes to address any risk concerns
  • Partner with issue manager to build out appropriate milestones, owners, and timelines for identified issues via testing
  • Prioritize competing responsibilities based on workload and demands
  • Continually evaluate environment for opportunities to proactively manage risk and improve processes based on observation, reviews, and feedback and to act on those opportunities
  • Develop and manage operational KRIs
  • Ad-hoc duties to support the Home Loans department

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years proven management of mortgage fulfillment, servicing operations and risk management
  • Working knowledge of Fannie Mae’s seller and servicing guide
  • Demonstrable knowledge of inherent risk, residual risk, and able to assess the effectiveness of internal controls
  • Ability to provide risk expertise through a practical, business lens
  • Self-starter with strong ability to work independently with minimum oversight
  • Fluent in Excel and PowerPoint, comfortable with analyzing large datasets in Google suite, MS Office apps, etc.
  • Ability to balance multiple critical priorities successfully
  • Inquisitive nature, attention to detail, diligence and a good attitude
  • Demonstrated outlook of positive and productive relationships and successful partnerships with stakeholders
  • Motivation to learn and consistently improve processes and tools
  • Oral and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively via telephone (Zoom)
  • Results oriented, demonstrated achievement of exceeding expectations
