Enjoy working outdoors? Would you like to gain some experience in Forestry? ACRT Pacific is currently seeking energetic entry-level professionals who enjoy working outdoors. This is a full-time opportunity for individuals who are looking to gain some Forestry experience. Our Consulting Utility Foresters are ideal for professionals with an educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, biology, environmental studies, conservation or related disciplines and who would like to gain experience in these fields and line of work.

Contingent at the approval of our clients , our Foresters patrol for hazard trees, perform identification, inspection, and evaluation of trees and brush along utility lines. They also assist in the submitting inspection results to clients with recommendations ; Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of assigned tree clearance crews; Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues; Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers. Note: This position is designated as a Safety-Sensitive role.

This is a position that involves travel throughout Monterey & surrounding areas.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • 1-year related experience in the green industry or related field OR
  • A 2 or 4-year degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Biology , Environmental studies or related field
  • Ability to identify local trees and knowledge of growth rates desired
  • Ability to work independently, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Ability to read and follow maps
  • Valid Driver License and ability to drive and operate a 4×4 vehicle
  • Pr oficient use in Microsoft Office Programs

Job Requirements:

  • Purchase standing timber and open market wood
  • Cutting and removing timber with minimum waste and environmental damage
  • Manage timber sales contracts to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with all Land agencies regarding land rights and easements; Transmission clearance on forest-and other agency-owned lands; working to ensure SRP
  • Procure low cost, high quality and timely raw materials for mills, including purchasing timber/materials, coordinating delivery, overseeing contractors, and administering contracts
  • Analyze effect of forest conditions on tree growth rates and tree species prevalence and the yield, duration, seed production, growth viability, and germination of different species
  • Plan and supervise forestry projects, such as determining the type, number and placement of trees to be planted, managing tree nurseries, thinning forest and monitoring growth
  • Challenge the status quo, and identify and act upon opportunities for positive change
  • Develop relationships and effectively communicate with W&FS team, business partners, and suppliers
  • Administer contracts including the evaluation and appraising of timber sales
  • Communicate ideas to management and to team of designers/copywriters
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements and client vegetation management standards
  • Assist in the management of contractors during storm restoration operations
  • Assist in the management of contractors during storm restoration operations
  • Inspect work completed by contractors for compliance to utility specifications
  • Prepare and give business reviews to the senior management and account executive teams
  • Assist the West District Supervisor in the management of all procurement related activities within the district
  • Work on a 2-month project in the Loop on a major brand
  • Perform a 100% validation of all transmission integrated vegetation management clearance work
  • Enforce processes and services for data management, data integration, and data compliance
