Position Overview The Collections Specialist is responsible for following up with invoices that have been sent to payers but have not yet been paid.
This individual is also responsible for researching denials and converting them.
Essential Job Functions Process at least 5 claims per hour Manage a portfolio of payers ensuring collections, aging and denials are being processed in a timely fashion Assist with billing efforts by eliminating denials and keeping payer rules up to date Perform month end reconciliation; assisting other departments as needed Meet daily, monthly and quarterly collection goals set by management Ensure work being performed meets internal and external compliance requirements Requirements High school diploma or GED required Minimum of 2 years related experience; healthcare, medical office, customer service preferred Proficient in Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel Strong basic math and accounting skills Proven ability to manage in a high call volume environment with accuracy and efficiency Preferences List Other Skills/Abilities Must be able to adhere to confidentiality standards and professional boundaries at all times Attention to detail Time Management Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations Strong commitment to excellence Quick-thinking and astute decision making skills Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution Excellent organization and communication skills Physical Requirements Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of 25 pounds Prolonged walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting Must be able to sit and climb stairs Must have visual and hearing acuity Must have strong sense of smell and touch Environment Performs duties in an office environment during agency operating hours Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments which may involve exposure to allergens and other various conditions Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
