Joseph Health is calling a Citrix Epic ECSA Client Application Engineer, PSJH to our location in Beaverton, OR; Portland, OR; Anchorage, AK; Seattle, WA; Renton, WA; Redmond, WA; Everett, WA or Irvine, CA.**Providence Health & Services deploys one of the largest implementations of Epic in the country, with the focus on keeping current with cutting edge technology, automated processes, and individual training.
We are seeking an enthusiastic technologist that has experience with Citrix XenApp, Windows Server OS, application deployment, automation scripts and managing resources in Microsoft Azure, to be the 8th member of our Epic Client System Administrator (ECSA) team.
The candidate will manage, engineer and optimize the client, server and delivery infrastructure for the typical Epic applications under the ECSA umbrella, but will mostly focus on the user presentation tier of applications and services like Hyperspace, Hyperspace Web, Warp Drive and others.
This position will also include designing, engineering, documenting, and implementing, updates and solutions for our client-server systems software.
This position also assists other Epic 3rd party application teams with their integration into Epic as needed which can include assisting with the design, architecture and documentation of those installs and integrations.

Serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organization.Manages, analyzes, engineers the client, server and delivery infrastructure for Epic applications across the enterprise.
This position has multiple levels including both engineering and operational work as well as on call and after hours duties including implementating and supporting the client-server systems and applications for Epic Windows Services Servers and client software such as Interconnect, Hyperspace, EPS, Web BLOB, Hyerspace Web and other Epic Windows based applications.
Will assist other Epic 3rd party applications teams with their integration into Epic as needed which can include assisting with the design, architecture and documentation.
Working at local, regional and enterprise levels the level 2 strives towards the common goal of application performance, standardization, automation and efficiency.
Knowledge of the inner workings of Epic systems, outside of the Windows based applications, is also preferred**In this position you will have the following responsibilities:**+ Has a general view of the whole of Epic Windows applications and the 3rd party applications that are intimately connected including, not simply with each other within Epic, but with the other infrastructure technologies that Epic relies upon.
This includes Windows OS, virtual networks, load balancing VIPs, firewalls, storage and other technologies.
Performs complex tasks related to Epic Windows operations, installation, and/or maintenance.+ Participate in cross-functional efforts to resolve complex technical issues, chronic problems, and technology integration challenges that impact our application area.
Performs methodical troubleshooting and diagnoses, and at times work with end users and analysts directly.+ Work with technology and application teams to ensure Epic application and infrastructure changes are communicated to the necessary teams across the region or enterprise.+ Is able to set technical priorities and solve complex technical problems.
Technically/professionally competent, up to date in his/her field.+ Prepare, install, upgrade and/or distribute Epic applications and related software installed on servers and clients including printing, faxing, imaging, business continuity systems, monitoring, web servers, communication systems and end user access.+ Perceives important new problems or tackles important unsolved problems, and develops new procedural solutions which result in their successful solution.
Develops new ideas that increase profitability or enhance operations and then document it whether it be for other technolgy teams, end users or the Service Desk teams.+ Works independently, but should also be in good communication with level 3 and 4 technologists.
At times the level 2 will receive direction from level 3 and level 4 colleagues.
Will be closer to the day to day maintenance and performance metrics of the systems.**Qualifications:****Required qualifications for this position include:**+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Information Services or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience or equivalent educ/experience.+ Four (4) years total relevant IT experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience+ Epic ECSA 101, 102 and 105+ Within 6 months EPIC CERTIFICATION+ Within 6 months EPIC CERTIFICATION 2+ Within 6 months EPIC CERTIFICATION 3**Preferred qualifications for this position include:**+ Windows Server experience including IIS+ Citrix XenApp administration.+ Experience with scripting, programming and automation.+ Experience with managing resources in Microsoft Azure.+ Must be fluent with modern scripting and programming languages to automate tasks with PowerShell, JSON/REST and C#.+ Infrastructure as code configuration automation like Terraform, Ansible and Chocolatey.+ Extensive knowledge of Windows operating systems especially in a virtualized environment (Citrix and VMware).+ Fully understands system and kernel components, printing components, registry tweaks, AD Group Policy structures and performance and reliability tuning techniques.+ Extensive knowledge of networking technologies (DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.) protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTPS, FTP, SMB, SNMP, LDAP, etc).
Knowledge of how network appliances such as load balancers, routers, firewalls and network intrusion systems that can enhance or impede security, reliability and performance.+ Fluent with diagnostic tools like Perfmon, SysInternals, Wireshark, LogInsight, and Fiddler.
Leadership in discovering new technologies that improve application security, uptime and performance.
Ability to review current system and operational support standards and recognize when changes should be made and then document and communicate those changes.+ Must be a motivated self-starter who is able to develop goals and associated work plans with little to no oversight from management.+ Ability to comprehend release notes for software and hardware upgrades, and understand the ramifications of those upgrades.+ Have the social and technical confidence to actively participate in contributing ideas and solutions while in a group or individual setting.+ 3 years experience as Epic ECSA**About the department you will serve.**Providence Shared Services provides a variety of functional and system support services for our Providence family of organizations across Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
