Our Opportunity:The idealSwitcher DriverIIwill work closely with the Chewy transportation and operations team, as well as Chewy carriers and vendors, to provide exemplary customer service in our Lewisberry, PA location.

This position is critical in ensuring that the Chewy Inbound and Outbound docks have an adequate supply and constant flow of loaded and empty trailers that are positioned safely, accurately, and efficiently.

The successful candidate will have some experience in yard operations with an emphasis on switching or driving experience.What you’ll do:Safely move carrier trailers within the Chewy yard to include both loads and empties for the Inbound and Outbound docksWork with transportation and operations teams to prioritize tasksAccurately report equipment statuses and productivity information to the Transportation CoordinatorsPerform periodic spot checks of the yard and reporting on equipmentEnsure switcher equipment is in safe working order to include pre/post-trip inspections, tire condition, and unit hours reportingPerform other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:A safety driven mindsetA valid drivers licenseSuccessfully passing Chewys driving and knowledge proficiency testsMaintenance of Chewys internal certification for driving and knowledge proficiencyThe ability to repeatedly climb in and out of a truck in order to connect and disconnect airlines, move trailers, and conduct periodic spot checks of the yard with or without accommodationStrong organizational and prioritization skillsAbility to effectively operate independently with minimal supervisionEffective verbal and written communications skillsAbility to effectively communicate via two-way radioAbility to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays if neededComply with all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesHigh level of professionalism and strong work ethicThe ability to adjust to sudden changes in customer demands or operational goalsAbility to handle multiple tasks at onceAdhere to quality and performance standardsAbility to work in a fast-paced distribution environmentDetail oriented and accuratePreferred Qualifications:1 to 3 years relevant switcher operating / driving / warehouse / distribution / military experience related to transportation equipment operationsA valid CDL Class A LicenseA high level of comfort with backing and operating heavy machineryMicrosoft Excel and Outlook experienceChewy is committed to equal opportunity.
