WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Performs assessments of patient’s spiritual needs, motivations, and background; prepares spiritual histories for patient summaries and treatment records.
- Provides pastoral counseling and spiritual care to patients in support of their substance abuse treatment plans; provides pastoral support to family and support members as needed.
- Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely; completes paperwork requirements as needed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Participates on a multi-disciplinary treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Chaplain communicates with clinical and medical staff regarding patients’ treatment and status.
- Provides daily chapel meditations as well as spiritually focused group counseling and educational lectures.
- Chaplain serves as a spiritual care resource and advisor to facility management; provides spiritual mentoring and training to staff as requested.
- Provides assistance as needed to clinical and medical staff in crisis situations with patients in support of resolving emergency problems; appropriately available when scheduled for “On-Call” duties.
- Participates in all assigned staff meetings, staff development, and training as required.
- Maintains and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable spiritual counseling procedures and related substance abuse treatment in accordance with company policy and State and Federal guidelines.

- Salary ranges from $19.32 – $24.83/hr based on experience/education

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry or divinity studies.
- Pastoral license or credential to function as a counselor in the state in which the chaplain is working.
- One (1) year of pastoral counseling in a behavioral/healthcare environment.
Preferred:
- Master’s in Pastoral Counseling or Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree.
- Three (3) plus years of pastoral counseling in a behavioral/healthcare environment.
- Pastoral counseling in a substance abuse treatment environment.
- CPR certification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Residential treatment facility setting; requires walking throughout the facility.
- Direct contact with patients.
- Sitting for extended periods of time; regularly talking to and listening to others.
- Traditional work hours with the need to work evenings, nights, or weekends based on the need of the facility to provide patient care; able to work overtime to the extent necessary.
