YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bayer is looking for a highly creative and motivated cell biologist/biochemist (m/f/d) to join Bayer’s Lead Discovery Department (LD) within Drug Discovery Sciences Wuppertal, Germany.
At LD, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists within the R&D organization and contribute to the development and discovery of innovative methods that will facilitate excellence in early drug discovery.
This two-year position is part of a Bayer Life Science Collaboration (LSC) program, which promotes state-of-the-art research within the global Bayer organization with special focus on cross-divisional exchange.
You will closely collaborate with colleagues from Pharmaceuticals, CropScience and Consumer Health in Europe and the US.
In detail, you will:
- Design and establish novel biochemical and cell-based assays for ultra-high throughput screening (uHTS) in the field of glycobiology
- Work on cell cultures and cell-based assays from different sources, e.g.
pathogenic fungi and cancer cells
- Support ongoing projects in different stages such as target evaluation, lead discovery and lead optimization
- Closely collaborate and actively contribute to our GlycoScience community
- Be part of an international and interdisciplinary research team, closely interacting with your colleagues from the entire R&D organization of Bayer Pharmaceuticals, CropScience, Consumer Health as well as several contract research organizations
- Strengthen the visibility of the team’s research and scientific excellence through publishing and actively engaging with the internal and external scientific community
WHO YOU ARE
- PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, or related field; postdoctoral research experience is a plus
- Strong background in cell biology and biochemical assays methods
- Experience and proven expertise in the field of glycobiology
- Working competences in interdisciplinary and international teams
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven record of independent problem-solving and working efficiently in a cross-functional team, reaching joint goals
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken
This is a fixed-term contract for 2 years.
