Job SummaryThe Senior Process Engineer supports effort throughout the company to optimize the operation, performance and efficient of all manufacturing processes.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate process conditions, provide analysis and coordinate the implementation of process improvements in the cement plants and other processesTake field measurements, compile process information, perform literature research and provide data analysis and reportingAssist with improving process control, product quality and efficiencies in the manufacturing processAssist the Energy Management Team with identifying and implementing energy efficiency projectsReview new capital project equipment and process designDesign new plant process equipment to optimize plant performance and achieve project objectivesEvaluate plant emissions and develop solutions to comply with regulationsIdentify problem areas and work with plant personnel, engineering and environmental staff to design and implement solutionsWork with automation and control systems and, if required, assist with software and graphics developmentAssist with new process area system start up and commissioningManage capital improvement projects as assignedEnsure a safe work environment in the execution of all duties and activitiesEducationBachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, Mining Engineering or equivalentRequirements/QualificationsMinimum of 7 years’ experience with at least five years’ experience in cement manufacturingWill be required to travel to company facilities and other locationsMust be a self-starter and be able to work independentlyMust be able to work cooperatively with plant and corporate personnelMust have the ability to multi-task with competing prioritiesMust have excellent communication and inter-personal skillsWill be required to lead meetings, maintain records, develop reports and make presentationsMust have above average mathematical abilitiesPreferred:Experience with two or more cement plantsExperience with Pi data collection systemsFamiliarity with expert control systemsBenefitsAt CalPortland, we’re proud to offer a comprehensive, competitive benefits package that provides health and financial support to our most important resources: our employees.
