Job Description:

The Leidos NISC IV program is looking for a CAD Specialist to join our team in Washington, DC and support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)’s Computer Aided Engineering Graphics (CAEG) Program.

The CAEG Program Office establishes and maintains the database for all engineering drawings and documents related to NAS facilities, equipment, and systems. It also manages physical hardware assets at 12 distinct locations across the NAS and serves a user community of over 5000 active stakeholders.

The CAEG Program additionally acquires and provides the engineering and data analysis support tools (licensed commercial-off-the-shelf and internally developed software packages) for efficient creation, modification, and work process management of engineering design drawings. The Program develops and provides the related training, policy, guidance and support for CAEG system stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include but not limited to the following: 

  • Support the CAEG Program Office (PO) AutoCAD Translation efforts in the areas of Architecture, CAD drafting, drawing QA/QC, and compliance with CAD and BIM standards
  • Collection of technical data to ensure that drawings meet project requirements in compliance with CAD and BIM standards
  • Assisting with educating FAA employees on the proper use of AutoCAD
  • The position will require daily interactions with the FAA customers and the NISC IV team.

Please Note:  Must be able to work onsite in Washington, DC (once temporary Pandemic related remote work is over or when asked to return to the office). 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills): 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering and 3+ years of experience drafting in AutoCAD to National CAD Standard (NCS) or a similar company-wide AutoCAD Standard OR 5+ years of Architectural or Civil Engineering experience drafting in AutoCAD to NCS or a similar company-wide AutoCAD Standard; Direct experience with AutoCAD v2019 or newer is preferred.
  • Experience reviewing project drawings for compliance with CAD standards
  • Familiarity with EDMS solutions like Bentley ProjectWise and Autodesk’s Vault
  • Capability to provide technical support related to CAD workflows
  • Capability to provide technical support resolving plotting, file conversion and software version issues
  • Experience in resolving and amending data integrity issues in CAD data files 
  • Familiarity with emerging Architecture, Civil Engineering, and CAD trends in order to evaluate and recommend new and existing tools and solutions
  • Experience working with or developing CAD scripts and automated workflows

Additional Attributes That Will Help Ensure Success:

  • Experience with writing reports and providing recommendations
  • Ability to thrive in a remote/virtual work environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency using PDF tools (Bluebeam, Adobe)

Preferred Skills (Desired):

  • Master’s degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD v2019 and Revit
  • Experience with ProjectWise and administration of ProjectWise
  • Experience developing CAD standards

Experience working with Federal agencies like GSA, USACE, DoD and their CAD standards
