Chief Engineer at Scott AFB Job Category: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 25% Type of Travel: Local CACI is looking for an Chief Engineer to support our customer, U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), at Scott AFB Illinois. This position is contingent upon award of the USTRANSCOM Command, Control, Communication & Cyber Systems Managed Information Technology Services (MITS), Enterprise support Managed services. What You’ll Get to Do:The Chief Engineer will supervise and provide senior level technical expertise, training and mentoring to Network and System Engineering and Administrator teams. Responsible for maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting all switching and routing devices, firewalls, load balancers, alarmed carrier devices, uninterruptable power supplies, in-line network encryption devices, etc. Configure devices in accordance with security policies. Maintain and update OS and firmware as required. Monitor and report operational status. Resolve connectivity issues when they occur to include working closely with vendors and service providers. Develop and maintain IP address schemes for all assigned networks, and annually review and update the Master IP Routing Schema. Manage circuit provisioning throughout the delivery life cycle. Install and test circuit and base extensions and coordinate with external entities and the Government leads for end-to-end testing and activation. Monitor capacity and utilization. Provide trending and capacity planning services to analyze and plan for efficient utilization and management of the network. Troubleshoot and correct all detected or reported network faults or outages. Developing, maintaining, and supporting technical infrastructure, hardware, and system software components. Performing installation, maintenance, and support of system software and hardware. Performing user support Configuring, debugging, and supporting multiple infrastructure platforms. Performing high-level root cause analysis in support of service interruption recovery, as well as creating and documenting preventive measures. Working as a strong team contributor and providing technical expertise. Staying abreast of emerging trends in information technology and helping shape the work for the Government.Working with the Government to understand their requirements and evaluate possible technical solutions. Establishes complex operational databases, software configuration control and system interfaces for computer systems. Maintains file servers, network access; documents, analyzes, and troubleshoots systems anomalies to ensure optimum equipment performance. Provide assistance via remote access, phone, or in person. Candidates need excellent problem-solving and customer service skills, as well as extensive experience with network hardware, software applications, operating systems and network connectivity. They must be customer service-oriented and proactive in anticipating and resolving problems while maximizing efficient use of resources. More About the Role:The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, have strong leadership skills, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. The candidate must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users.Lead engineer supporting command engineering designs, builds, and escalated support to services and products. Provide network and system engineering support services to improve customer service, system performance, and reliability for the C4 Networks and Systems for projects designated by the Combatant Command. Performs/supports/directs all required engineering functions found in the Service Design Domain.Additionally, the Chief Engineer will provide remote support and/or travel to customer sites as required.You’ll Bring These Qualifications:Currently hold an adjudicated Top Secret/SCI Clearance and be able to maintainBA/BS + 10 years recent specialized or AA/AS + 13 years recent specialized or a major cert + 13 years recent specialized or 15 years of recent specialized experienceMicrosoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)CISCO CCNP certificationExpert level experience working with and supporting Cisco Routers and Switches in a complex enterprise environmentExpert level experience working in a mixed Windows enterprise forest. These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:ITIL v3 FoundationExperience with Microsoft SCCMAdaptable to changing circumstances and operational needsMust have experience with SIEM, log analysis, vulnerability analysis, and some scripting experience.Intel Security Certified Product Specialist – ePO, DLPe, ESNUnderstanding of Department of Defense Military standardsCISSPThis position is contingent upon contract award in late 2022.
