Business Intelligence – Operational Excellence Leader

This is a Contract position in Phoenix, AZ posted August 1, 2021.

What you will do Position is responsible, under the guidance of the Senior Director Operational Excellence, for assisting in the support of strategic / improvement activity, and directly responsible for implementation and overseeing data analytics and reporting for Central Operations & Operational Excellence-based improvement initiatives.

This leader will guide a team of 3-6 highly trained, educated, functional SME BI professionals.

This role will serve the dual purpose of supporting operational improvement while building insights and reporting to improve competitive advantage.

Team objectives will support an annual benefit target of $40M annually.

How you will do it The incumbent must lead complex business analytics-based initiatives, help to perpetuate best practice operating performance, and provide insight to drive business operations improvement.

He or she must be … A data ambassador: BI OpEx Leader needs to be a data evangelist.

It’s his, or her responsibility to coach teams throughout the business on the benefits of using certified data to optimize decision making and workflows.

This leader must have a blend of strong technical ability and business acumen.

Great at data visualization: BI OpEx Leader must be able to develop a team of skilled employees who can help their internal customers make sense of large data sets.

The BI OpEx Leader and the team must be proficient in visualization platforms, such as Power BI, and present data in a manner that can be understood and acted upon.

The BI OpEx Leader and the team must have the technical, soft skills, and business knowledge to convey clear insights.

Insight, result-driven: The BI OpEx Leader is expected to manage data professionals beyond simply developing automated reports.

The BI OpEx Leader is expected to be an innovator
– to be a current, relevant, and innovative leader in data analytics and support.

The BI OpEx Leader and the team will be commonly required to offer suggestions for business change and present relevant insights to key stakeholders in the business.

The BI OpEx Leader and the team will work in concert with continuous improvement professionals and related methodologies (Lean Six Sigma) and have a proven track record of successfully supporting large complex transformation projects.

The leader will utilize people, process, and technology (Cloud-based Data Warehousing, Data Flows, Machine Learning, Data Automation, RPA, AML, etc.) to lever desired reporting and analysis.

The incumbent is fully accountable for supporting and leading the creation of an inclusive and positive organizational culture while developing team leadership to take on complex assignments diverse in representation, background, experience, and thought.

The incumbent is accountable for supporting an improvement quota and operating budget while connecting their team’s performance to three domains (Fire, Security, and HVAC) performance objectives of which they are committed.

Responsibilities include the leadership and administration for thoughtfully prioritizing initiatives, improving customer experience, driving employee engagement, while indirectly impacting business profitability.

The leader is responsible for collaborating on improvement opportunities via quarterly pipeline management operating rhythm & ensures alignment with BSNA X-matrix strategy.

The BI OpEx Leader is regularly exposed to unique situations often requiring creative/logical solutions with limited reference and benchmarks to address complex problems.

Energize, coach and mentor employees by providing a compelling vision of success, building their capabilities and creating an environment of winning, empowerment and trust Provide thought leadership on creating a data-driven, insights oriented competitive advantage Identify and implement automation tools and forward-thinking processes to increase productivity, end-user usage/adoption and return on effort Drive internal customer experience & Net Promoter Scores (NPS) by being a team which is easy to do business with (low customer effort) Meet or exceed performance expectations in all operational areas to include on-time delivery, while continuing to improvement in quality and speed of deliverables Implement policies, standards, performance criteria and metrics to continuously improve team and client satisfaction Effectively partner with executive sponsors, key stakeholders and front-line associates Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (MBA or equivalent preferred), and a minimum of 5 years functional experience, with 2-5 years hands-on advanced analytics experience with a large multi-National organization Formal education in Analytics, Business Intelligence, BI training certifications and/or equivalent experience Proven track record of successfully leading, designing and delivery to a large organization advanced BI solution Role model exemplary relationship building with customers and key internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrate compelling communication and influencing skills, can influence and shape images within the functional area.

Ability to analyze complex business scenarios, establish action plans, set clear goals, monitor and communicate progress, and follow through on all initiatives to completion Influence, inspire, coach team members creating an environment where they can do their best work Foster learning and development of existing team and peer teams to promote employee engagement and growth Johnson Controls International plc.
