THE OPPORTUNITY
Cambridge Associates seeks to hire a business development associate to join our private client practice.
Our private client business targets single family offices and ultra-high-net-worth individuals with investment assets over $200 million.
The business development associate will work closely with the business development team, the Global Private Client Practice Head, Private Client Business Development and Client Relationship Management Leads, and specific investment teams within the Private Client Practice to retain and grow the firm’s clients, and to coordinate coverage of available opportunities which includes conducting research on opportunities, responding to request for proposals (RFPs), creating marketing materials in PowerPoint, tracking business development activities and managing them in a CRM system, and overtime begin to identify and pursue new opportunities in coordination with team leaders .
The position requires a great deal of teamwork and collaboration within Cambridge Associates.
The individual should be proactive, energetic, entrepreneurial, result-driven, organized and capable of handling a large number of efforts at one time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop a complete understanding of Cambridge Associates’ investment services, processes and philosophy and passionately articulate the firm’s capabilities with internal and external constituents Work closely with business development colleagues and investment teams to map ecosystem and identify clients, prospects, influencers (T&E attorneys, CPAs, other family office advisors) Conduct background research on potential and actual opportunities Coordinate with regional Business Development Director and investment teams to execute engagement and outreach plan across clients, prospects, and COIs Participate in prospective client and client calls and write briefing documents and meeting notes.
Evaluate opportunities and apply business acceptance criteria to meet business goals for revenue growth and profitability Write proposal letters and respond to RFPs Prepare PowerPoint materials for meetings with clients, prospective clients, and influencers Plan and execute prospective client meetings and rehearsals with investment teams Manage sales cycle and workflow, diligently updating and managing CRM system, run and analyze reports Be a team player, work collaboratively and in close partnership with colleagues across business development, marketing, firm & practice leadership, investment directors, legal, and finance Takes initiatives in improving productivity and results Build brand and represent Cambridge Associates at internal and external events Open to constructive feedback and willing to implement suggestions
QUALIFICATIONS
2-5 years of business development or internal sales experience, preferably in a private bank or within the institutional investment management industry Outstanding communication (written and verbal), presentation and interpersonal skills Strong listening and organizational skills Ability to operate independently with a high level of direct responsibility while also partnering effectively with business development team members and investment teams Superior ability to strive for results, setting and achieving goals Capable of identifying, developing and managing long-term relationships Experience with CRM Understanding of investment and asset allocation concepts Strong ability to learn quickly, open to constructive feedback and willing to implement suggestions Series 3 (must pass exam within three months of employment) Undergraduate degree is required
