” POSITION PURPOSE: The Cheese-Epicurean Specialist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while serving and replenishing a wide variety of fresh, high-quality epicurean products.
Responsible for educating customers and employees on our Epicurean products.
They will work to proactively engage customers and create opportunities to upsell and cross sell products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Create a culture of food exploration, innovation and education for customers and employees.
* Learn and memorize hand-cut cheese set and insure all employees working the Epicurean department have mastered the set.
* Uphold standards set for cutting each variety of cheese and displays within each Epicurean case.
* Merchandise and upkeep of the retail cases including signage, promotional materials and cleanliness.
Each case is to be organized at the beginning and ending of each shift and as needed throughout the day.
* Follow and maintain all Epicurean and Food Service policies, procedures and programs as laid out by the company/store.
* Maintain calendar of cheese “out of dates”.
* Promote a specialty cheese of the week that follows the Cheese of the Month program and/or a special Epicurean product.
* Ensure proper food safety and sanitation procedures are performed and maintained at all times.
* Tries all new products as they are introduced and trains Epicurean employees on the new products.
* Maintain ongoing specialty chees demo program and monitor and verify weekly price changes.
* Must be able to order all specialty cheese products from all current vendors.
* Must be able to place accurate Holiday orders that will allow the department to sell the holiday products with a minimum amount of shrink.
* Must review past holiday sales numbers to complete new holiday orders.
* Maintain product at proper temperatures and ensure proper food safety and sanitation procedures are performed.
* Performs other duties as requested or required by upper management.
PEOPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct: Food Service Department employees SCOPE DATA: * Single store responsibility * Varying types of areas urban vs rural within one Division KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Education Level: * High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Must maintain Certified Food Safety Manager Certification.
Experience Level: * Must be 18 years or older.
* Minimum of 6 months of food service experience.
Skills and Experiences: * Ability to work at fast-paced, but efficient and controlled manner.
* Ability to function as a team member and get along with others.
* Be able to work collaboratively with fellow employees and managers.
* Availability to work weekends, holidays, and morning and late shifts as needed.
* Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with other people and participate actively in department programs/events.
* Knowledgeable about each Epicurean item that is sampled and sold in order to educate our customers and employees PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: * Must be able to work extended hours and varying work schedule as dictated by the business.
* Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs.
and stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours).
* Perform all other physical aspects of the job including bending, squatting, lifting, climbing, and walking.
* Must be able to safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts.
* Must be able to work in a cooler environment on a regular basis and in an extreme cold environment on an occasional basis.
* Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
