We have a challenging opportunity for FT Sr. Customs Entry Specialist to work in the BGS US office located in Springfield Gardens. Job Summary: The Sr. Customs Entry Specialist will have in-depth knowledge of customs and partnering government agencies. The Sr. Customs Entry Specialist is responsible for complex, non-routine CHB/CBP transactions and will be assigned to handle key accounts. This position will support managers on import audit functions and compliance. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the daily operation and assist with advising employees and customers on import restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, quotas, or other customs-related matters.Plan objectives and strategies which allow team members to perform optimally and guide members toward meeting company goals and objectivesAssist the Sr. Manager in coordinating team meetings, monitoring attendance and schedules, managing performance and motivate and train employeesReview documents to find missing elements/data from various sources and work with internal departments to correct docs/data for each file.Assist and advise the team about classifications/related issuesProvide advice to clients on export and import restrictions, tariff systems, letters of credit, insurance requirements and other custom related matters. Quote duty and tax rates on commodities for clients.Maintain internal customer parts-database with classification details and SOP’s to expedite the clearance process.Provide support and training to employees on complex problems, new initiatives and the timely and compliant release of freightProcess documents through the company’s ABI system, obtain Customs release and additional government agency releases as appropriate.Meet with U.S. Customs Border Protection, customers, vendors, brokers and other government agencies when requiredStay abreast of changes in import laws or regulationsQuote duty and tax rates based on federal tariffs and excise taxes.Review and monitor all Customs rejections, requests for information for clients and any other government agency, and other correspondence.Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications:Minimum of 3 years of experience working in the freight forwarding industry performing customs clearance work or similar work supporting the customs clearance processLicensed Customs BrokerKnowledge of Customs RegulationsProficiency in Excel, Word and other Office products as well as other proprietary IT systems and business objects.Be at least 21 years of agePreferred Qualifications:Experience providing customer service to external and internal customers in an import/export department.Exceptional problem solver with the ability to transition between detailed data and high-level conclusion/recommendations.Professional Skills:Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong multi-cultural understandingAbility to initiate activities independently, learn and achieve resultsInvestigative and problem solving skillsStrong analytical skills About Brink’sBrink’s is the global leader in security and logistics services, trusted by banks, financial institutions and businesses in both public and private sectors.
