Find your future with us.The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Lead Systems Safety Engineer.

The position is located in either Berkley or Hazelwood, MO.

As a System Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for the program System Safety Engineering Statement of Work.

You will experience the entirety of what Bombers & Fighters have to offer as a major contributor to program success while supporting across the entire product lifecycle, gaining both product and program experience, and knowledge depth and breadth.

Grow your network while working with the program Integrated Product Team Engineers, Quality Engineering, Production Operations, other program and functional leaders, and the customer by building trust through purposeful collaboration to proactively improve product Safety and reduce risk across the product life cycle.

A successful candidate will have 6 or more years of diverse aircraft design and program / project experience.

This lead engineer position will provide the opportunity to use that experience to help programs execute the Systems Safety Engineering statement of work, coupled with the need to lead and oversee other less experienced engineers in the execution of work.

Position Responsibilities:Detailed system and subsystem hazard analysis, fault tree analysis, sneak circuit analysis, software safety (level of Rigor), and environmental analysis.Documentation efforts of hazard analysis and risk assessments (e.G.

safety assessment reports, hazard notification, and hazardous material reports), analysis and control of hardware, software, and chemical hazards.Design activities to provide advice and counsel on pertinent regulatory, safety and environmental requirements, reviewing preliminary configurations, and strengthening integration of hazard and chemical risk management practices.Evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements and derived safety requirements, as well integration of technical parameters to assure compatibility of physical, functional, and program interfaces.Lead and oversee other less experienced engineers in the execution of the work.

This position allows telecommuting.

The selected candidate will have the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, performing work weekly onsite and remotely.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

An interim and/or final U.S.

Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S.

Government requires U.S.

Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry6+ years of experience with aerospace/aviation product requirements, design, and design analysis.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Active U.S.

Secret Security Clearance (A U.S.

Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).Working knowledge and experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR) Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.

Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.

PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
