Billing Assistant

Job purposeThe billing assistant position bills insurance carriers and Medicaid for approved dental procedures that has been done to the patient; pursues collection of all claims until payment is made by insurance companies and Medicaid; and performs other work associated with the billing process.Essential Functions* Prepares and submits dental procedure claims to insurance carriers and Medicaid.* Secures needed documentation required or requested by insurance companies and Medicaid.* Follows up with insurance carriers and Medicaid on unpaid claims till claims are paid or only self-pay balance remains.* Works with the clinical team to ensure that correct diagnosis/procedures are reported to insurance carriers.* Creates and maintains a high-quality of work environment so team members are motivated to perform their highest level.* Assists the immediate superior with the daily operation of the Billing Department to include the development, analyses and implementation of company set rules and standards.* Works as a member/leader of special or ongoing projects that are important to area/process improvement.* Maintains communication with the immediate supervisor for any questions that may arise.* Perform other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.Qualifications* At least six months experience as a clerk.* Must possess a high school diploma or GED.* Communication Proficiency.* Strong customer service skills* Keen eye to details* Must have basic computer skills (MS Office Suite such as Word and Excel, knowledge of Dentrix will be helpful but not required.* Good listener.* Subject to background screening.Working and Physical conditionsWork is primarily in a climate controlled office setting with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sitting, sedentary, walking, occasional lifting from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use.
